Still learning the game but here is what happened. I was busy Ebon Downs and just before I got the quest for the Idris dungeon there, I hit 40 which threw me in the next bracket and I was unable to queue for the dungeon. Now my question is, I got quest to go to Vellosk, lvl 38+ but I also got the quest for the Pirates Skyhold 42+ which I can do no problem.
My concern is, should I got to Vellosk I will most probably sit int he same situation as in Ebon Downs. I am thinking of completing all the quests, be it for the sake of completing the whole story / achievements etc.
Should I just go to Pirates area and get "on par" with my level / area / dungeons?
You should keep on doing all the quests, especially if it's your first time through. You can go back and do that dungeon, and other dungeons, by making or being part of a party and entering via the dungeon entrance, rather than using the queue.
Besides, later on when you get to 60 you'll be able to go to epic versions of those dungeons, via the queue, once you are equipped properly, so you really won't be missing out on any of them.
The difficulty starts to ramp up a bit in the 40's. Some of the solo dungeon bosses can be, troublesome. Going in a bit over leveled will help you in the long run. You cant really miss anything, even if you skip areas or dungeons you can come back and do them later. With one exception.
At the very least, try to do the Skirmishes. Currently if you out level and miss then. There is no way to go back and do them. If you are a completionist or Achievement hound. Youll kick yourself later, if you miss a few of them.
