How do YOU kill this guy? We have a great group of players and are tackling content as intended and we get smashed on this guy with all the adds. This is the only dungeon we haven't mastered besides Castle Never so what gives?
Any tips tricks and strats are welcome.
Running as intended = GF/TR/GWF/CW/DC

Pull all the brain dogs, kill. TR on boss. Everyone else on adds a little distance away. Same as every other boss. Have your GF and GWF peel any adds that go to the TR.

er no. The majority of boss fights it's far more ideal to only have 1-2 people handle the adds. This one you want all 4.
So this one is unique in that the adds are quite challenging, yet not numerous enough for a sole highly skilled CW to handle (more adds = constant blackholes possible for skilled CWs, less = nope.). Actually is one of the only boss fights in the game my CW can't reliably do alone on epic, tho non epics easy enough if overgeared. I mean I have solo'd CC'd those adds on my CW once, but the healing I needed to pull it off was too extreme for most clerics, so having multiple people on the adds is very wise.
So yea -
1 tr on boss, directly where he spawns.
Rest of the party very far back on the adds - pretty much maximum magic missile distance is ideal as the boss is a hulk - can suck the party in.
DC heals the people on the adds, not the TR.. The boss is easy, adds are hard.
Priorities the brain dogs and mostly just let your toughest party member tank the mind flayers.
Why? The brain dogs hit incredibly hard, but have low hp, the mind flayers have huge hp, but don't hit hard (tho they have a conal stun ability, its only a ~300ms stun).
You'll want either a CW or GF to pull any adds off the TR, as surviving the mindflayer stuns plus boss attacks is not something even the best rogues can manage for long.
GWF are terrible at this one since they have no ranged attack. If they go near boss to try to pull the dogs, they will inevitably get sucked in at some bad moment. They can use unstoppable to avoid it, but the adds spawn too frequently to always do that, eventually they will not have the charge to do it.
Pretty much near impossible to beat without this strategy. And still quite tough with it (when done at the intended gear lvl for non-epic, and pretty much any gear lvl for epic).
