The update was suppose to make some low level alchemy skills give solvents now. Does anyone know which ones they are and can you post them? God know Cryptic isn't going to do it.
Have been raising Alchemy to 7 for the dyes and haven't seen any reward a solvent yet. Then again, I have just been making those potions necessary to get the experimental reward.
of course, since solvent is so cheap anyway it hardly seems to matter. Now for quicksilver it would be nice as 5 silver each adds up.....

there is no reward for solvent. you spend gold. its a money sink. at 20 i can tell you that it is honestly not worth wasting your time or money on the profession. It truly is a AD/ZEN sink.
I think the OP is referring to this recent change in the last patch.
Professions
The first few Alchemy tasks now award solvent to reduce the need to visit the crafting store immediately
It clearly says some of the lower level tasks will now reward solvents. But I cant see any in my crafting task list that does so. I can only assume its a low level task that gets removed after a certain level, similar to how the lower level experimentation tasks get removed.

Dyes will make you money, even with white tools I think, some of the transmutation options and higher level portions look pretty good too.
You are correct in that that is what I'm talking about.
My Alchemy skill is around level 13+ and I have yet to see any task award solvent. Since just about all the tasks take only a few minutes to complete, I go through 100 solvents quickly and it tiring having to do other skills and then having to return for solvents.
This is one of the things that is turning me off with this game, they don't do what they say they are going to do, they don't keep us posted on issues.
Basically they think of us as mushrooms, they keep us in the dark and feed us BS.
So sorry - this was an unintentionally misworded patch note. It's supposed to read "Solvent has been added to the rewards of the Professions tutorial quest," and has been updated.
so quick to flame a dev I see. I have not started alchemy recently, but it sounds like they added some early tasks to alchemy similar to the early leadership tasks. Things that you can only do once to earn the first level or two of leadership. That way you can get your alchemy started without going to the store to buy solvent. That was all it sounded like they promised, not a regular task to make solvent for your alchemy, just enough to make 2 dozen solvent at the absolute most. promiss you a biscuit and you think its the moons geez. all they wanted to do was make it easier to start.

No. What the dev who posted said was that the quest you get to talk to the profession vendor, which used to give a few starting resources for the other professions, now also gives you some solvents as well.
Similar to tailoring, where you can do tasks to gather wool or cotton scraps, you always need to buy or find thread by playing or buying from the vendor.

Thanks for pointing this out!
