Launcher issue, grey screen?

Everytime I launch the client I get a grey screen as below

rh0d.jpg

This has only started occuring in the past week, prior to this it's been fine. Now, it's not unresponsive, I can use the keyboard to patch when needed by hitting enter and ctrl-v my pass in to launch the game but I cannot, for example see anything, and can't get to settings/options on this screen, which is annoying because I needed to access the proxy settings options.

Any solutions? I've researched this issue to death and can't find anything helpful. I'm on windows and the only related issue I've found was on a Mac and the solution couldn't be applied.

Windows 7 64bit
Radeon AMD 9xxx series GPU

It's only this piece of software that appears to do this. I can still get into the game and it runs fine. I just can't see anything on the launcher and can not access settings.

I've reinstalled, no go, didn't need to update directx, updated graphics drivers, nothing works. Tried running in different compatibility modes, windowed non-windowed etc..

Any ideas?

You get my vote for most detailed screen shot ever! :/

Check your network icon in the taskbar's tray. See if, when the game does this, there is the yellow alert triangle on it. Several people are having issues where Neverwinter client and/or the Launcher are hosing their actual connections.

Nope, no connectivity issues, connection is always solid. I've never lost connection ingame, and, as stated can still log in, it's just the launcher has gone weird on me. Does the launcher use java? I mean, it acts like a browser, so I'm wondering if the issue could be there somewhere, although ,all my plugins, including java is up-to-date and verified functioning.

I've seen similar work-arounds for a graphics issue (I had it in NW and STO, involving post-processing and screen ambient something-er-other). Anyway, when the game would hang, I'd hit CRTL+ALT+DEL (windows' three-finger salute) and click the cancel button, go back to desktop and the app would be fine. That said, I wonder if it's a rendering issue within the launcher (which I always thought was just a cheesy IE wrapper).
