I just hit level 60, and wanted to enchant my shiny new Purple weapon. I had had a Lesser Plaguefire enchantment on my old one, and thought to keep it.
It would cost me ~129,000 AD to remove it from the weapon.
Or I could buy a new one for 65,000 AD.
We are polluting the environment with Enchantments that we throw away instead of recycling them! It seems reasonable that Lord Neverember would be willing to offer an AD subsidy to avoid the streets of Neverwinter being cluttered with discarded enchantments. Who knows what all that stray magic laying around might do?
(tl;dr version - its cheaper to buy new enchants than remove old ones. Fix this.)

So the streets are littered with shattered enchantments? That sounds even more dangerous!

While I do think that some of the "utility" costs (like removing enchants, or altering gear appearance) are a bit on the high side.... they have no control over what people charge for things on the auction. The fact that the enchants are being sold more cheaply by players isn't their problem.
Removing Enchants is still ridiculously expensive, circumstances non-withstanding. I can't get into NW at the moment to check other prices, but I'm willing to guess that the removal price for many are at minimum 75% the rate of a new one.

Actually, it is. It's the economy of the game, and if they aren't paying attention to it, they're doing it wrong. The economy is what drives a large portion of an MMO game.
