Nobody is required to do the dailies & several people will not do them at all, preferring to run delves & gaunt instead or skirmishes or pvp.
Yet Neverwinter is much more demanding of dailies for time commitment.
Neverwinter isn't demanding anything from you. It is offering options to you. If you don't want to spend that amount of time on dailies, spend it on one of the other options provided.

It's demanding if you want to do the dailies. That's it. Of course they're optional. I don't do them, I should know.

The only demanding aspect of dailies is that which is self-inflicted. They are not inherently demanding.
Everything has cost, and the cost of most activities in this game is time. If it was worth it enough to you, then you'd invest time in doing the dailies. If it isn't, you won't. But, that is a personal issue, not a game issue.
I kind of like that they're difficult to achieve every day. Otherwise I slip into the "daily checklist" which gets stale after awhile. The way it is now I have to decide what I want to do at the time. I rarely finish them all but that's ok because I am usually having fun doing other things.

My original point, though we've strayed from that, is that the requirements of the dailies themselves are more demanding than other MMOs I've played. They take more time and require more work to complete. And that is of course IF you want to complete them since they're all optional.

Yes, I caught that bit. My response to that is basically, oh well. This is Neverwinter, and those games are other games. There is no reason to expect Neverwinter to have the same time requirements for their dailies as other games.
One does have the choice to seek out missions around 15 minutes in duration, to minimize the amount of time spent doing dailies if they wish to do so. That's about the only way to mitigate the time requirement.
There is one that I use that goes along pretty fast, and is all on one map, so there isn't even load time to slow things down. I don't remember the name or code of it at the moment, but if you'd like that info I'll get it for you.
I generally use that one when I just want to get it done and not spend a huge amount of time on it.

That's a good point. And hence the desire of some for Foundry Quests that borderline exploit.

Yup. That's my personal take on it since I do mostly Foundry and don't bother with dailies.
