What keeps you playing

What keeps me playing:

1. Gearing, trying what the class can do with all the different builds. Getting the best out of it.

2. PvP, certainly the best way to test new class builds, although most of the matches are broken and not so enjoyable, I had my fun.

3. Guilds, best way to get sociable in this game and organized. Although no content for serious guild life.

4. Dungeons, to successfully finish all the epic dungeons. I wished they would be played as I liked, needed to do to get some profits.

5. Gathering and grinding to the point "why I'm doing this".

6. Zen market - astral exchange - combination, when I knew I could get every item by just playing the game.

7. The hope for the improvements and new content.

Post yours.

Edit: keep it on good things of the game.

My Main is pretty much geared to hell and back (No I did not buy it but I farmed it)
My alt GWF/TR are both t2 geared.

I play because I enjoy the game; gearing is just a side effect
    A world to defend
    A city to protect
    innocents to save
"Why?" They ask "they hate you"
We're heroes it's what we do.

Still need to get leadership to 20, and I have a few titles I am missing (as a cleric, my only chance for getting the titles for "killing most enemies" or "doing most damage" in a dungeon or skirmish is basically to solo non-epic Cloack tower or Cragmire crypts over and over and ....)

I also like assisting lower-level guildmates when possible, and improving my skills in some of the boss fights.

This should keep me busy until the Feywild module appears.
    Hoping for improvements...

well.. I know this game wasn't created by cryptic, they got the game from its makers, and are marketing it (is why they cant say created by cryptic etc)

The only thing that keeps me going on this game, is to see just what cryptic will horribly screw up next on a rather beautiful game someone else created.

I keep playing because I have a guild of people that enjoy working together to tackle the content. It's not that it's very difficult, but we do it as a team. It doesn't matter if it's PvP, dungeon runs, or GG. There are always members that have alts or still need to gear themselves. Everyone pitches in...

    Haven't hit cap yet.

I only play with a friend, and it's not the only game we duo, so slow going. Once we do and I've seen all the missions (which I will have; it's a Cryptic game which means one playthrough if you're lucky) I'm gone.

    2. Quests created by other players
    3. Customized content
    4. The section in the game where you can create your own quests.

I'm not playing anymore. I was having fun PvPing at the level cap with my 4 60s (TR, CW, GWF, GF) until I realized just how pay-to-win this game really is.

I resisted considering this game as pay-to-win at first, but gradually saw that that isn't the case. It hit me in a huge slap of the face when I realized that enchants (both the special weapon and armor ones and the normal stat-gain ones) are more important, by far, than the actual gear you can get. If you do the math, you'd be surprised at how long it would take you to legitimately get the best enchants in the game legitimately and without paying a single penny. To farm all the mats yourself, it would take years. If you balanced farming mats and selling drops with buying more mats, it can take as little as a few months.

Or, you can have it all in under 10 minutes by throwing a thousand bucks at the game.

A discrepancy like that is NOT considered pay-for-convenience. That's called pay-to-win. I was iffy about that, once I realized it, but I kept playing. Then I came across a PvPer who decked his character with the most HAMSTER gear and enchants in the game. We played nearly identically, and yet the imbalance was obvious.

Now, that hardly ruins the PvE and Foundry aspects of the game. Those still have potential. But it's a shame that I don't care much for PvE in MMORPGs. I like to know that I'm fighting an intelligence, not a step-by-step script. So, if I liked PvE content, that would be why I would keep playing.

The only reason I keep paying attention to this game is to see what new classes are added. But by the time that happens I might be completely done with Neverwinter.

At this point the lack of customer support regarding my unanswered tickets, bots everywhere, and exploits have turned me off from this game.

Right now nothing, was that I thought was going to be a D&D game, but not all the classes and small maps, no open world and a single quest arch with minor side quest for each of the very basic races. This game needed another year before release, but think the main reason was it was release due to another game (in beta can not say it but you all know what I am talking about) will be released in a while and I think they want to make money before everyone leaves for it.

what should have been at release at least the basic races from the first 4th edition book which is what they're going from. the classes with paths from same book as well, this would have been enough to hold the game for a bit till other items were added. But still lacking in open world which could have been overcome with larger maps, or maps with just wilderness with wandering creatures maybe some small quests here and there and a few dungeons that could be done solo or with low level groups. I really hate shoehorning and this game does it to you at every turn on top of that the space to carry stuff is so small and buying bags require a magic hat trick to pull off trade this for this get this to get that. Just sell the bags for a gp value somewhere and be done or if you must astral diamonds, which don't get me started on the different currency thing. The main issue is the company and their concept of the class design as these classes play like power sets from a super hero game not classes from a D&D game. I should be able to use any weapon I want if I take a feat for it as well as armor but the shoehorning will not let you. So we will if they get to it have many classes with many animations which will look cool but in the end this game will not survive, which is sad because of these reasons and mostly the engine it uses is just not that good.

I am waiting for eso and the other mmos and arpg's, that are coming out soon then I am gone. I am just here to pass the time, When eso and those other mmos and arpgs come out I am gone. I will come back here to see if anything has changed, if not I wont bother wasting time here. Lots of things need to be changed, worked on here, I wont be here much longer just waiting.

After last night, not much I have to say.
Ran GG on my GWF, Red steamrolled Blue.
Joined a Fardelver group led by a tweaker (there? there? there? can we come yet? there? there?) who kept trying to skip everything, even though it was clearly pointed out it had been hotfixed.
1 hour of my time, zero enjoyment.

I have 2 GWFs and 2 GFs because I enjoy melee classes, yet they still get kicked from random groups doing 2TR/2DC/1CW.
My TR is INT/Stealth build, so he gets kicked halfway through a dungeon for low DPS. Cleric is too boring.

I'll keep invoking until the next content patch.

I was attracted to this game because of the D&D logo. The only 2 things I don't like about Neverwinter is lack of classes and paragon paths and bind on equip purps that makes it too easy to get the best gear. I am a PVEer. I'd rather play with people than against them. I like taking down the challenges given to us by the developers.
I have a wife, 2 kids, and a 60 hour / week job. It took me 2 months starting the day open beta began to level 1 character to 60. I was a Loremaster in World of Warcraft. I had completed at least 2,500 quests by the time I stopped playing. Im a very patient person. I still don't like how fast I've been able to reach max level and start acquiring tier 2 gear.
Never winter will keep me as a player if they give us tier 3 difficulty content/gear by the time I get a second character tier 2ed out. I will begin shoving money down Perfect World's throat too fast for them to digest as soon as they come out with the Paladin class.

My character is a Dwarven Guardian Fighter on Beholder named Doodbruhman.

    Skinner boxes.

(i.e, that compulsion to not miss the "rewards" for daily invokes & crafting)

I've been waiting for module 1, basically. And in the meantime, since I'm still planning to play the game, I can't bear to miss out on any AD & Invoke Coins, so I log in ~3 times a day to do that. Which means their plan (in including those features) is working. :p

    1. Invocing.
    2. Leadership.
    3. Log out and ponder why I logged on in the first place.
    4. Log on in BF3 and shoot stuff.

I used to enjoy NW PvP but domination type PvP is just a poor dead horse getting beat up more and more. PvP is also very broken, with bots, 5 man teams, quitters, fast vs slow mounts and so on.

And with the news that M1 wont get released until the 22nd Aug makes me sad. There is nothing to do in this game now.
