Been doing tons of skirmishes, I'm not an expert but I'm on my second GWF character. I'm trying to decide between a sentinel or a destroyer build.
I think GWF needs to be aware of battlefield position of everything and everyone. Help the GF out by bringing adds to him while aiming for your own combat advantage. GWF have some of the best AOE damage out there so try and position yourself between the casters and hit more than 3 mobs at once.
We are one of the, if not the most mobile classes in the game...
Exactly. Which is why I started this thread for PvP (around the time of the last big patch in June) called The Tao of Disengaging.

What separates a Good TR from a bad 1? Knows how to spec & play their class for whatever role is needed
What separates a Good DC from a bad 1? Knows how to spec & play their class for whatever role is needed
What separates a Good CW from a bad 1? Knows how to spec & play their class for whatever role is needed

Good GWF:
- Knows where to stand and not die. Know when to use your sprint.
- Knows when to help protect the DC or CW when they are being overwhelmed.
- DPS should be around within rank 1-3. This is very very subjective due to difference in gear and content that is being done.
- Knows when to maximize DPS. For example IBS can be used on multiple mobs as the skill is actually a cone attack (altho a thin one) and not single target skill. IF several mobs are stacked together you can IBS and hit up to 5 of them giving you a huge DPS boost. Basically knowing when to use the skill instead of just spamming skills whenever it's up.
- Knows how to use the AP and Unstoppable rotation properly. Knows when to properly use Roar.
Bad GWF:
- I've seen some really bad GWF that's giving our whole class a bad name. They just stand around and die. If you are dead then you aren't doing any DPS or contribute to your party.
- Not getting "Student of the Sword". It doesn't matter what your build is. Just get it. Well IMHO this skill is a huge boost to your party DPS and not getting it is just **** shame.
- Just mindlessly spam skills.
- GWF is an off tank / DPS. You can absorb some damage where other more squishy classes cannot. In fact GWF is pretty good with crowd control. Esp with sprint / Unstoppable you can kite esp well.

Furthermore GWF needs to be able to take a hit.
