Just gave it a shot, very well made! There were a few things, and I left that in my review. :)
Would love your opinion on my Foundry's outdoor zone if your ever interested!

@Zagnar - you drew the short straw my friend, you got the video review! lol...

You'll find it here 268 minutes from the time I post this... Bloody UK upload speeds SUCK! lol.. It's doing its best :)

I really liked Visigoths idea of video reviewing these quests for people, so I did yours as only my second one so far... I am trying to find a natural feel to them, it's hard when talking into a mic, but I'm hoping to get better as time goes on. I enjoy doing them.

in summary, I think your quest was really well put together and thoroughly enjoyable.. I am lucky to have some talented folks looking for reviews in this thread! Obviously there's more in the video...

    Thanks again,

    Art (aka Casek)

Awesome! I can't wait to see your video review.

I actually changed part of the quest since you went through it. I made the plane of air a little longer and tweaked some of the background debris. When I did my play through I felt it was the shortest/most lacking of the zones I created.

Still not sure how many level 60's have played this.

I PM'd you about how impossible the combat in the first area is at level 60, except perhaps on Guardian Fighter.

Just tried again on level 60 Triskster Rogue.

Attempt 1: Dead within 60 seconds of leaving campfire. Foulspawn Berseker + adds, and group of spiders including 1x deathjump. This one was partly my fault, I was scouting around for a non-direct route.

Attempt 2: Tried a different route. Dead within 2 minutes of leaving campfire. Once again not helped my mobs patrolling through the respawn point (This is a MAJOR NO-NO), but I dealt with those and healed up. But the actual "fight" killed me was 2x Deathjump Spider, 4x Foulspawn Minion, 4x Spider Minion AND 1x Abomination Hulk.

Part of the problem is how little room you have left for people to move about in combat. Abom-Hulks need a lot of space around them to fight them properly with any chance of success, a Grd-Fighter can stand there and soak it up - everyone else has to move, and moving aggros more, and more adds.

It is my opinion that as long as you continue to allow these kinds of concentrations of encounters at the same point in ANY map that this foundry will remain UNPLAYABLE for 95%+ level 60 characters.

Yeah I cant say I disagree with you Redneckronin, and I thank you for your critique...

2 things however... Firstly, I have put a warning in the details of the quest, and it essentially says that if you just try and follow the path, you WILL die. I also point out that I spent time seting up wandering mobs and that players should 'pull' and be careful.

I have played it now with both my wizzy and guardian who are 60, and my wife plays a Cleric and rogue (also both 60). Neither she or I have had any issue with the encounters.

I mean don't get me wrong... Yes I agree.. 4 encounters at once is too much for anyone, which is why I suggest caution.

Also, your critique comes on a day when I log in and check my reviews...

The very top review tonight says, and I quote:

Too easy, make it more difficult. :)

While I greatly appreciate where your coming from, I want my quests to be hard. Although I will confess that the wanderers going over the spawn point is a no no... But I also have reason for this.

When I had written the quest, the spawn point was further back, out of the way of any of the pathing mobs. The reason I changed it recently was because I changed the way to 'leave' the map to be a horse.

Spawning up in the trees 'away' from the horse felt wrong, and didnt flow correctly, so I moved it next to the horse and spawn point.

What I will do, is come to a compromise.. I will restructure it, and move the roamers from the path of the spawn point, I will also change the pathing of the deathjumps...

However, the difficulty of meeting 2 or 3 encounters will for now at least.. Stay :)

Thanks for your time, and your support you have been great during my time here, I certainly wouldn't want to upset you in any way.

I'll make the changes tonight, should be live tomorrow.

    Take care,

    You haven't upset me.

I just don't want to see you get a rash of bad ratings because people have encountered inadvertently "stacked" mobs like I did.

I played it through on my level 15ish Wizard and it was fine, loved it, nice quest.

But at 60 its a nightmare.

I'm trying to level my next highest toon to 60 (Cleric) to see if its just me being an idiot on my rogue, I need a couple of level 60 toons to test my next one before I really let it out of the box, because I fear I have done something very similar on my "boss fight".

Believe it or not, this took me several hours!

I tried different combinations, I tried different mobs.

I tried changing pathing, and timing...

In the end, I just couldn't get anywhere near the challenge I wanted. So I reverted back to the original and deleted the roaming Deathjumps. I can find no other solution that still holds 'some' difficulty, everything else I tried simply ruined the whole encounter.

Hope this meets with approval of all.

Also to Redneckronin... I stayed on the psawn point for 10 full minutes, and had not a single mob wander past, I am concerned by this as it seems to be behaving differently for different people :(

Let me know what you think.

    Thanks

I think what may be happening, especially in my case, is that in trying to get away from big hit inductions I have dodged away and dragged the mobs towards the spawn, then when I die the mobs fixate on the Horse near spawn, and stay there until I respawn and then go for me again.

Given you want it to be a challenge at all levels I'm not sure what to suggest, if I'm the only level 60 you've had this kind of feedback from then its probably just me being very inept with my Rogue.

Haha, no one is more inept than me Red, believe me... Although it's true that I have only had that feedback from you, it does concern me, because I dont want it to be that experience for anyone.

Removing the Deathjumps I think has tuned it down quite considerably, and I hope has made the multiple mob pile-up a thing of the past :)

I will be starting my own thread for my campaign soon. As many authors have done. One that links to my signature... I shall post updates there when I figure out the format and protocol behind it :)

Thanks as always for your support.

Thanks for the all the work put into that video review!

My quest has actually been updated a bit since you ran that. My elemental plane of air has a bit of a different look - I added some effects to make it look like there are wind vortexes. I also expanded the encounters a bit in that part.
