Please stop making ridiculously epic level content that takes hours to get through. It is not fun. I have done my time and farmed all my gear on every tier 2 and CN. I have alt sets in tier 2. There is no more for me to get. However the long dungeon model needs to go.
Aberrant assault is the most fun content at 60 for the time value spent. However there are no epic level skirmishes.
The 2 hour long trash filled dungeon model needs to go. Just make skirmishes from here on out and this game will be infinitely more successful and fun. I do not fancy killing trash for 1-2 hours that is insanely more difficult than it needs to be to the point that the majority of the player base is incentivized to exploit past content.
Would it be too much to ask for epic level skirmish? The skirmishes leveling up are some of the best "dungeon" content leveling up, but I can't do them at 60 with at least level 60 difficulty.
Here is what skirmish does right:
1) Duration is designed to be around 15 minutes.
2) There is a good trash to miniboss to boss ratio.
3) You always get a chest for just you
4) It is fun.
Here is what is wrong with skirmish:
1) There are no options at level 60
2) You do not get meaningful rewards from skirmish
The problem is you have designers thinking way to big. Tune back the scope. There already exist games with huge epic 20+ man content that take all night. You won't get the people who enjoy that content in your game to come from other games so stop trying.
Well maybe if enough people get behind the idea of skirmishes, they might do something but I doubt it.
Designing skirmishes has a lot of advantages from design and production standpoint:
1) Levels are smaller so require less development time = shorter iterations = more content = happier players
2) Balancing the game is easier so you do not have tier gear for groups and raids
3) Shorter content = more play throughs = more feedback = better player experience
4) You have time to focus on boss design and make the game more than tank n spank, kite adds, avoid circles.
