Well, I was playing with a friend I haven't talked to in a year or so last night and thought it might be fun to jump on voice chat. After getting things hooked up and working it sounded like HAMSTER but it worked. It could have sounded bad because we are cheap old geezers and still use the same mics from five years ago.... but it was working. So then we join up and do Cragstep Crypt (or whatever it's called) and it works fine for a bit.... then we zoned....boom voice chat is broke the rest of the night. Well... wtf?
I looked around a little bit and see that voice chat has been an issue for... well since forever just about it seems. I guess my question is; is this going to be fixed soon? I know that the Zen store links are important business and all that... but gee it would be nice if things like this got some attention from management. I'd be willing to pay 300 Zen for a working voice chat... c'mon PW what do you think about that... I know you can smell the money!
In all seriousness... I'm really serious! What is going on with the quality of the game? Who cares about events, new store items, bandana giveaways, etc... please fix the basics.
Does anyone know a workaround to get voice chat working again once it "breaks?" I know.... vent...we are just old and cheap... used to buy vent servers all the time but all the guys in our old guild that played NWO already quit I guess except me and him... really... I need to go buy a two man vent? hehe ffs
While we're on the subject, let me add a few suggestions to improve voice chat (aside from the general need to fix the spotty system):
1. Would be nice to be able to voice chat with anyone, not just party members. Me and my friends often party just so we can chat and not have to type, but then everytime someone tries to go somewhere you get that whole "WAITING FOR PARTY" HAMSTER and the party has to be temporarily broken up to continue.
2. In the same vein as #1, guild voice chat wouldn't hurt either. Who wants to be bothered to download and setup some third-party voicechat software when it could already be a feature of the game. C'mon it's 2013, why are these features not standard yet?
Just suggestions, don't misconstrue them as some kind of whining or anything.
You can download and install a free version of Ventrilo server on your computer if that's all the people who're gonna be using it. The only difference between the paid and free version is the number of people it can support. It barely uses any resources, but you just have to have the basic sense of how to setup server software.
