I'm trying to do the Scalefather quest, key word here is trying. So far I have died 4 times and it's driving me crazy:mad: I'm a level 41 GWF, so far the best I've done is to get him nearly dead along with his other mini boss, before the mini boss takes me out.

So, my question is sould a 41 GWF be able to solo him?

I'm on the mindflayer sever and play most afternoons CST and name is John. I might need help unless I just kill trash mobs and try to level up more.

Can't remember levels at the time; but GWF can do every solo quest in game alone.
It's easy to fall behind quest level, if you do only questing for leveling xp. So, maybe could just be that.
    Also,
IIRC, Scalefather fight doesn't have many ADDs?
I think that's right; it has few, but strong ADDs*; and I had to switch out encounter powers to single target oriented to beat it. Believe I used Flourish + Take Down + Restoring Strike. Don't know what power combos you have tried. Actually, I never had RS off encounter bar in any case. Anyway, focus kill the ADDs ASAP, and 1v1 against Scalefather shouldn't be much problem.
If you get in trouble, well, GWF can run away really good
Should be able to outrun monsters long enough to pop a potion or two, if needed.

    * there's other fights like this in solo quests: War Troll, Rimehound, couple in Hotenow.
Everyone of those type of fights, I had to switch out my 'normal' encounter powers to focus on single target damage.

You can go do some foundries, skirmishes, dungeons to level up a bit: much more constructive than just grinding mobs.

    What companion are you using?
What abilities? I think that I swapped in the leap for that fight: you need to make sure that you stay out of the red areas. Don't get focused on trying to get in that last hit in an at-will combo: hit and run. The slower that you take damage, the better you can deal with it through potion, companion, etc healing.
