Very Rare gear selling for 5 gold?

i have noticed people in P.E. and high level maps spamming they are selling very rare gear for 5 gold is this some sort of scam? gold comes so easy why would very rare items be selling for gold?

there is a lot of purple gear which is worth nothing in the AH, so you can only vendor it for 1.6g -> if you can sell it for 5 thats a good deal. the items those people are selling are most likely not good for lvl 60 gear

Gold is the most valuable commodity at 60. Potions and injury kits cost a fortune and there is virtually no gold income from anywhere. You are earning good gold while you leveling to 60 doing quests, but when you are 60 and those quests are done...
