Fury of the Feywild is slated to introduce a drag-and-drop 3D editor for the Foundry. What was the driving force behind deciding to add this new feature?

Answered by: Rob Overmeyer, Foundry Producer

This was purely based on player feedback. The goal was to give creative Foundry authors more control over map design, something people have been requesting for a while. Additionally, our hope is that this improvement will make the level design process feel more intuitive and in-line with other creative suites.

YAY!!!!!!! Best news I have had today.
My quest was deleted in July of 2013. There were no issues, it had not violated any rules. Was deemed a bug. That quest is still missing.

So, we could pull assets not currently in the map while in 3D mode? I hope this is the case.

I would even be happy that copy and pasted items show up properly.

This is really awesome news! My connection is spotty at times, so toggling between modes has been the biggest time sink. Thanks, Cryptic!

Great news - one thing that we or I really need is a way to edit in 3D without falling through all the time, some sort of levitate function so we can stay at a constant height would help anyone who is trying to construct anything above ground level, should be really easy to implement - lock the character y axis and give 3 keys for up, down and lock/unlock toggle job done.

Free flying god-mode inc! We have suggested this in closed beta and trust me, we have had the devs agree! It just takes time to code, in the mean time my suggestion is a 1000X200 invisible wall flipped 90 degrees on it's R and positioned just under the floor your working on :)

Thanks but I am doing that at the moment, however not so easy in some situations.
If it's incoming great just thought i'd mention it.

Sometimes the old hand-eye has trouble nudging/aligning things just right and it would be really helpful if we could edit x/y/z/rotations/etc in 3-D mode as well.

The ability to simply nudge items by pressing a key would suffice.

Also with this new 3d drag and drop I really hope they plan on changing it so when you drag and drop effects there is some sort of placeholder image so they don't just go invis once you 3d edit them.

And what about NPC? Are those going to be editable and moveable as well?

And finally.. I always get double load screens when I 'finish 3d editing' or reset my map. That needs to be addressed, its annoying. But don't let those comments fool you, looking forward to this. Will save alot of load time if implemented properly.
