Riddles in the Dark

(Part 1) Version Final (Further improvement will be dialogue only, fixing typos. I'm happy for all those nitpicks you can give me. ) - NW-DLEWTKWKD

Brethren of Five, by Draedis@lolsorhand
Short Code:NW-DLEWTKWKD
Mission Type: Indoor/Outdoor. Storyline/Delve and Exploration. (Classifies as Daily Foundry.)
Average Duration:20-40 minutes.

Difficulty: Normal/Hard - You decide the difficulty/playstyle through sliders.
Starts at: Protectorate, Neverwinter.
Maps: 8, (Home in Protectorate, Meeting Place, The Golden Rooster, Camp, Encounter, Caverns, Shore Camp, Letters in red.)

Suggestions: Read what the conversations say, it's quite important and at some points, certain wordings will have dire consequences.

Mission Summary: After meeting with a mysterious stranger, and heard his offer to find a measly little letter for a good payment, you've decided to (Hopefully) take up on the offer and set off to your first clue of finding this letter. A man named Gromy lives in an encampment quite far away from Neverwinter.

Description:

Storyline/Delve with areas for you RPers/Explorers. (Difficulty builds up, last area being harder than the caverns. Enemies avoidable.)
(For those who are interested in the main plotline, exploration is rewarded.)

    The Bloodied Letter

    by Draedis@lolsorhand.
    Short Code: NW-DDB3LWKMJ
Mission Type: Indoor/Storyline - Dynamic difficulty based on dialogue. (Classifies as Daily Foundry.)
    Average Duration:15-20 min Max.
Amount of Combat: Medium/Heavy (There is an interactable wall as you jump up on a few boxes, the wall gives you a sort of 3+ player difficulty.)
    Starts at: Protectorate, Neverwinter.
    Maps: 3

Suggestions: Read the dialogue, or don't(Remember though that if you just click through the dialogue, you might bring yourself to a higher difficulty scale. Most importantly, have fun.)

    Description:
This is the continuation of Brethren of the Five : Riddles in the Dark. - Genre - Horror, Madness. Kult, Cthulu-ish.
Storyline/Exploration with Medium/Heavy encounters. (There are possibly quite a few hard encounters you can face.)

    Difficulty:
    Solo: Medium
    Duo: Easy
Party: Easy/Medium (For parties, find and activate The Wall of Madness.)

The story will presume you have played the previous quest, Riddles in the Dark. NPCs and the story might otherwise be unknown to you, giving you no pleasure from the story itself.

    The Trials of Five

    by Draedis@lolsorhand.
    Short Code: NW-DBD3NDASN
Mission Type: Indoor/Storyline/ - Puzzle, Exploration and Story - (Sliders at one point in the quest.)
Average Duration: 30-60 Minutes, this varies greatly depending on your playstyle/choices and how much dialogue you read.
    Amount of Combat: Light/Medium
    Starts at: Protectorate, Neverwinter.
Maps: 6(Not counting Protectorate, which would make it 7.)

Suggestions: Read the dialogue, or you will be lost. (Mind it's made so you can figure it out, but I highly recommend reading the dialogue to not make the puzzles harder that what they are, they are in fact quite easy.)

    Description:
This is the continuation of Brethren of the Five : The Bloodied Letter.
Storyline/Exploration with Medium encounters, all of which drive the story onwards.

    Difficulty:
    Solo: Easy/Medium
    Duo: Easy
    Party: Very easy,

Keep in mind only one player should take the quest items or confusion might arise.

Twitch TV link to Zovya's and Tsumoro's playthrough of The Trials of Five. Many props to them both. Linkage

    --- Ingame Description ---

This is the continuation of Brethren of the Five: The Bloodied Letter.

-Bring potions and injury kits, and have fun!
    Story/Puzzle/Exploration/
    -Dialogue- driven. (Heavy)
    -Puzzle- driven (Medium)
    -Exploration- driven. (Medium)
It carries encounters with difficulty sliders ranging from, Normal to Hard. (All encounters drive the story, quite a few depending on choice.)

Sounds/Music should be activated for the best experience. Also post-processing for certain effects that might otherwise be lost.

Elizabeth left the shack to travel to the Brethren camp, the injured from the ambush required her aid.. You however have rested enough, the time has come to find answers.. But the only person able to give them have
gone missing. You investigated the remains of the now burning safe house only to find yet another letter.. -
Though this one adressed to you. To get it decoded you will need to find the young girl, and then..
Hopefully be on your way to get some long overdue answers.

The story will presume you have played the previous two quests. And there are probobly a few glitches that I can't do anything about in the 3rd area.

    The Brethren Song

    by Draedis@lolsorhand.
    Short Code: NW-DN73Z66BA
Mission Type: Outdoor/Indoor - Storyline/Delve/Exploration - (There's a Party difficulty slider in the beginning of each area.)
    Average Duration: 60 minutes
    Amount of Combat: Medium/Heavy
    Starts at: World Map
    Maps: 6

Suggestions: Reading the dialogue is completely optional in this quest, apart from one instance - Be vary of activating Party Mode if you are not playing with at least two friends or more.

Sounds/Music and Post Processing should be activated for the best possible immersion.

    Description:
If you want to take a break from the quest, you can always do so just as you enter a new area. If you leave, you can return to the start of the area where you left off.

This is the continuation of Brethren of the Five : The Trials of Five
Storyline/Delve with Medium/Heavy encounters balanced to solo players as well as a party. It has elements of exploration for those interested.

    Difficulty:
    Solo: Medium/Very Hard
    Duo: Medium/Very Hard
    Party: Medium/Hard

    --- Ingame Description ---

    Story/Delve/Exploration

Your mind mauled as you wake up in what seems to be some sort of cell. Your memory hazy at best, although you do remember stepping through the portal after you had completed the final trial. You know of only one way to find out what will transpire now, after all you have proven yourself. You are now The Fifth and only time will tell what that truly means.

Difficulty - Solo or Party - Depending on gear and size of your party the difficulty will vary greatly. (Many things change with party difficulty, it is more than mere enemies that change. Outcomes and NPCs will change/vary.)

Bring pots and injury kits, and most importantly have fun!

Play as the villain or hero.
    Dialogue driven -Heavy/Medium-
    Combat driven - Medium/Heavy-
Exploration driven -Light- (This is for story/sidequest alone.)

    V. 1.0+

The story will presume you have played the previous three quests. (BUT, this can work to some part as a standalone quest and a decent introduction to the series.)

I finished Riddles in the dark. I really enjoyed it lolsor. My favorite part was the chase. I dropped a tip and an in-review for you also. Subbed you as well. Sorry was a busy week and took me longer to get to it than I really wanted it too. Likely going to run your part 2 for my part 2 for the review trade shortly.

Curious, cave map with the white atmosphere, was that pre-made you added customization to? If so which one, I liked the basic layout and with some tweeks it's a pretty solid looking base for a quest idea I have one I finish dreamscapes.

Part 2/3 is partly custom, 3 more custom than two. But i'm going to finish up part 4(hopefully) And then probobly stop playing the game/foundry.

I had planned however to revisit each part once done, but just not feeling it. Riddles was the first map I ever made, and Bloodied Letter the second. I'm not happy with how Riddles turned out when I look back, things need to be added/improved upon. But I simply can't do it, the motivation isn't there.

Okay decided to run part 2 before the lady got home form work. Was quite awesome. I love the scenery and it was great seeing several maps I used in my quest tooled a different way, really showed how much a room can very based on what was added to it for detail sake.

Started on riddles tonight. Needs a ton of work on the grammar, but the maps are awesome, the story is intriguing and there is good use of environment (chase and barricade, for example). Unfortunately I was unable to complete as when I got to the objective of giving the letter to the golem, the dialogue options were both greyed out to me for some reason.

The combat was intense at times (L60 10k GS), but fun. I particularly liked "Sarge" - a challenging encounter who didn't rely on immunity to give me a tough fight

Apart from not being able to complete, my only niggle was being directed into the tavern immediately you arrived at the first map. I did talk to a few of the locals, but thought I better follow the objective and so headed inside. I was disappointed I couldn't return to the outside and so missed the opportunity to talk to more folk...lesson learned for next time.

Yeah I'm having(hopefully, if things do work out as planned.) a proof reader to go with me, but I would probobly notice alot on my own since I started lol

But the letter can be found where you killed the abomination, just search the ground. (Also might revisit them if I get the motivation back, it's just, well it's there but not what it was before.)

Hi lolsor, thanks for quick reply.

I did replay the last map and managed to finish the quest this time. But the objective updates to "give the letter to the bloodied golem" when you kill Yrgil (?) and not when you pick the letter up. As each author uses quest items differently, I didn't assume the letter would need to go into my inventory. If you could change it so the quest objective doesn't change until the letter is safely in hand that would avoid any misunderstanding.

On the other hand, if I am the only one or only one of a few who had issues, then yeah, save your energy

Nah you need to pick up that letter :) It is intended the way it is, I could make it a quest to pickup the letter, but that just, feels off. - At the beginning you got it by killing the Hand of Yrgal, but it felt so odd. Like the letter magically flew into your pocket. Hence the drop :)

Yeah I think that's fine, but there is a lot of fighting in that area (so it can get hectic and confusing) and when the quest updated and yet I don't have the letter, that feels odd too.

I really enjoyed the quest though and look forward to the next chapter tomorrow :)

Lolsor, I need your help again. I have mended one crack and it used the Brethren flame so I can no longer mend the rest. I am in the room with the fire, books on Katri etc and three teleports leading to the cracks. How do I get back to get more flames? (PM if you like so as not to give away spoilers).

EDIT: Grr, after hours of searching, I see the TP is right on top of the fire (the black and white effect made it hard to see and the 3 books below made it as hard to target...I had to jump on top of the burning fire to be able to interact). I just knew the minute I asked for help I would figure it out.

You need all flames to do it :3, which are all where you got the first one.

The teleporter is there, you just need to jump up on the crystal, or aim to the teleporter. (This is intended to be this way, might be too hard though to figure out but I haven't followed everyone who ran it before, and they didn't have a problem with it :P)

Yeah go on, make me feel even more bottom stream :p

The other problem I'm having is bag space, I had to dump out quest items (optional) just to fit the flames in...and believe me I haven't picked up any loot other than what already stacks with items in my bag. I normally run with about 9 empty spaces, up to 11 on a good day. I guess that's my "Too bad, freeloader" lesson for the day *sobs*

Despite any issues though, it is refreshing to get a quest that would have normal mortals reaching for a walkthrough in this information overload 21st Century. I often lament the internet when gaming (cus yes, I am human and 'cheat' because I can) so you've definitely given me one of my gaming wishes :)

Hehe, well it does warn you at the start that it will require bag space, but yeah. I'd rather drop rank 1-2 runes or something but the items does do things. lol

But yeah, can't do much about it. Although, the flames take up 4 slots, the rest about 4 I think. So 8 slots should be all you ever need throughout the whole quest.

(Since most items dissappear after use.)

My campaign I think atleast, have some actual depth to it. Though I didn't want to make it too long, nor too short. A 15 min quest, well I never really care much about the story when I play them. Can't invest in their respective stories, but that's just me. - But good luck :3

Edit: Also did make this quest to be like this, some things just aren't obvious to the player. :P

Yeah finally got to use up some things right at the end (nice touches by the way), but 8 is an understatement - I can name 14 quest items and at the time I needed 4 flames I was still carrying at least 7! Still, I reckon I have spent 3 hours or more in this last chapter, I wasn't going to let a little thing like bag space beat me :)

    Really, really good job Lolsor.

Well, Dreambreaker, Rope, Water, Rations - That is four. The essesences from the mountain are 3, and gets removed :P

Brethren Flames are four, and gets removed as you use them.

So there isn't many more items than that, or?

But hope you enjoyed it hehe

Incredible work on the maps and environments. I completed this with my lvl 60 cleric and wouldn't recommend this for a cleric since some of the fights are fairly tough. Although it was a bit long for my taste I thoroughly enjoyed this quest.

Note: couldn't tip since I reached my daily maximum for tips (who knew there was a daily max?)

Nice work the landscapes the dialogue everything was very nicely done. Like all the little things like the notes on the walls, books laying around.

Was confused during the chase scene cause my camera jerked and i went the wrong way but no biggy.

All in all fantastic work looking forward to the rest of the campaign. 5 starred plus a tip to keep you motivated to make more.

I reviewed in game as well.

Thank you for your review on my mission making changes to mine as i type this.
