How to Add/Move a Dialog Tree

I suspect I'm missing something glaringly obvious here, but hopefully someone can help. I've run into this problem before, so perhaps this will help others as well.

I have an NPC with a dialog tree, and I duplicated the map. Not sure how this happened, but on the new map the npc is there, but the dialog tree is attached to a different object (not an npc). If I go to the dialog tree screen and select it from the drop-down it shows me what it's attached to, but when I click the drop-down beside it to try to change it, it won't let me. I could make it a different object, but all I want to do is move this dialog tree back to my npc.

How do I do that?

Recreate the dialog tree on the NPC.

    Yes.
    Really.
    I know: OUCH!

I've had this happen to me (well, more like I change my mind on how thew interaction starts). It sucks, I know. Perhaps request it as a feature to be able to create dialog trees, then select with item/NPC uses that tree after the fact. As it is right now, there is no way to "reassign" the trigger object/NPC that starts a particular dialog tree.

Ha ha, that's what I was afraid of. Luckily in this case it's a pretty short dialog tree, but it's hella-annoying when it's a big one.
