Once again Im at the Chasm at the Scrying Tower and I cannot find my way back to Scar Keep so I can get to Protector's Enclave. I'll be damned if I'm going to spend 4k AD to buy a scroll, when this game's maps should clearly mark the way in and out of an area. AND WHY DONT THEY; I WANT TO KNOW THIS.
As you may be able to tell, Im utterly frustrated at the moment. This is not the first time I have been lost here. This second time, I noticed which way I came in, I thought, each time I came thru a portal, only the Portal I thought would lead me out doesn't, or if it does, I have no idea where that portal is because it is NOT MARKED ON THE MAP. [Also, using a quest that sends you to Protector's Enclave in this area, just gives you a broken orange arrow, telling you they cannot find the pathway]
And meanwhile, as I am running around trying to find it, I am constantly being mauled by mobs, over and over. There is no safe path. the mobs do not leash. I have to continually stop and kill the GD mobs. I don't need the XP. I am already about 4 levels above this area.
PLEASE PUT SOME ATTENTION ON YOUR MAPS AND MAKE THEM DO WHAT THEY SHOULD DO... SHOW YOU THE WAY AROUND AND HOW TO RETURN. Especially in this area, which contains so many portals and none of them are helpful in anyway... unless you are on the way in. Stop all these cheap tactics to get me to spend currency to get myself out of a jam... which i wouldn't be in if you created a map. Send your guys to cartology school or something. ****.
I once got lost in a paper bag and I started to hyperventilate but then passed out. When I awoke I realized I was lost and instead of passing out again, I decided to calmly look at my surroundings and slowly made my way out.

It's kinda silly to get lost in a paper bag. I feel a bit of pity for you. And thanks for the advice, though it was unnecessary and a bit rude. I also have found my way out. That is not the point of my post. It has to do with the maps and how they need to be useful. Right now they are not. Particularly in this area.
I sympathize (as well as I can over a video game) with the poster's frustration as these maps only have a mark with the camp name on it, not the location of the portal. You basically have to remember what that camp is called and mark a path back to it (if you can) or remember your way. I can't write how many times I've been overloaded with loot so I needed to get back to Protector's Enclave to go through it (decide what to vendor, what to list on auction house, what to keep, not to mention refill supplies if needed, fuse enchants, etc.) and find myself running all the way back through every area. I realize this is likely a gimmick to get people to buy those teleport scrolls or whatever but all the poster is asking for is a common sense improvement: mark the portal on the map. It's not that hard.
I find annoying the quest path... its easier enough without it... so... seriously complaining bout getting lost in maps that you can go from north to south in 60 seconds.
Calm down. Breathe, count to 10, look around and explore.
The chasm isn't that big, and it's a pretty sweet zone. If you stop getting frustrated by everything that doesn't spoon feed you quests you might find some enjoyment.
I know the feeling , I never got lost on the Chasm but It was a nightmare navigating my way around that volcano maps final zone , one quest in particular where you need to place 3 scrying orbs or something ( sorry forgot the maps name , mount hodown or something) the sparkle trail leads into invisible walls and it is pure hell getting around because of all the giants and strong mobs constantly attacking you because your trying to get the waymaker to work lol.

Why bother going back to PE? You can sort, fuse, and sell things (both vendor and AH) in the closet campfire most times.

Thanks for the question. I probably can but since inventory space is so low (me not spending money to buy more bags) I have developed a habit of storing excess enchantments and runestones in the bank. Since I have to go back there anyway to get them in order to fuse in bulk, it just made sense to dump my excess loot in Protector's Enclave while I was there. Yeah, I know, I create my own problems by being a cheapass and a packrat, but it's me.
Gotta have space for those many, many pairs of pants...

I'd have to agree with this. This is ADnD one of the things players did in ADnD (and characters) were to carry a map with the locations on them and if they didn't already have these locations they put them on there.
Not having a map that shows the way in or out is just stupid imo and doesn't fit with the theme of DnD. Seriously, it needs to be fixed.

The enchantments in this game is the biggest money grab scheme I've seen in an MMO. They clutter your bags with them to force you to buy bags and inventory space. The truth is you should even save enchantment/runs/etc, you can buy them dirt cheap at lvl 60.

Your opening post wasn't exactly presented with the height of civility, so you're not in much position to criticize the rudeness of others. The golden trail does have a lot of problems in that area. Hopefully it is on their agenda to take a look at sometime. I found it more useful to disregard the trail and simply use the map icons when navigating the area on return trips, and haven't had much difficulty with that. I have never had to resort to using a scroll.

The volcano was better the last time I ran a character through it, so much so that it seemed it must have been revised, as I didn't feel I had gotten that much better at working my way through it.
