Wizard agro after the patch

Ever since the cleric agro got fixed in the patch it seems that the wizards get it all now instead. I'm finding it much harder to control the adds now because I'm constantly having to dodge red circles or getting knocked which disrupts casting my abilities.

I play with a cleric friend and he agrees that it's much harder now. I used to be able to keep the adds away from him when he had all the agro but now it's practically impossible most of the time. And with the nerfs to DC I'm using potions every 10 seconds.

I've tried playing with GF's and GWF's but they just can't seem to keep agro away from me. Am I just playing with bad tanks, or do I just need to get better?

If you use chill strike on 30 adds and the tank is not damaging them, they will come after you, we must be careful now

You need to play more carefully and the GWFs/GFs have to be more attentive.

its the tanks that need to start learning now, i have been in groups where tanks often just run to the biggest monsters and use him as a primary target. You must tell a guardian to focus on all adds and ignore the big one (leave for rogues)

I'm definitely noticing this now. Since the patch, it's like all the mob aggro has now been transferred from the Clerics to the CWs. The tanks I've been with either don't seem to be trying to grab aggro from us or are not capable of doing so.

With all this constant aggro, I stacked 1k Lifesteal and I saw a HUGE difference in survivability, much more than what the same amount in defense gives me. So I am trying to shoot for 2k now.

    +1 for this . .

Dungeon Run this day kinda like . .
Big Boss is for rogue only
    Adds is for GWF/GF
    CW help GF/GWF controlling adds
DC use their best to support others

tanks are not designed properly to hold the aggro of all the mobs either. i suggest you play a GF before making these comments like i have. sure, i can aggro nearly everything on the field with only a slight amount of effort, thats not really a problem.

the problem is when you have a permanent and endless stream of red circles under your feet, your guard meter is constantly broken, you cant dodge, and you are getting knocked around like a rag doll. i quit playing my GF because of it. its like an exercise in futility tanking a boss fight.

instead of just looking for someone to blame, realize the game has serious flaws.
everyone is just trying to make it work somehow and not many people are happy.

I stopped aoeing up close and now play from afar and only Steal Time when someone is in direct danger. Seems to help. AOE Chill Strike is a harsh spell for aggro in dungeons. I use the Shard a lot from distance now and it seems to work pretty well.

It seems to have gone from one extreme with the DC to the other with the CW. I for one feel a certain amount of resentment at needing relearning to be CW when I had just gotten the hang of it and at now need to use so many health pots, when before I would barely use any or none in the dungeons now i'm using about 20 per run.
I find myself using icy terrain a lot more to slow the adds down and teleporting sideways while attacking seems to work fairly well for me. The winter dungeon, I've forgotten its name, is particularly fun with all the golems and grunts chasing me on the final boss fight.
Our main guild Tank is our best Dps so its unthinkable to have him on anything else but the boss, he usually out score everyone else by at least 4 Mil.

Maybe its because I played a tanky DC as my first char and did all the endgame content or maybe its because I only started doing T2 endgame a lot on my CW post-patch, but I actually enjoy the CW gameplay immensely. Far more than my post patch healbot DC.

It is like you are soloing and doing one of those tougher instances while questing. But instead of focussing on damage, it is mostly on control, seeking opportunities to weave in damage whenever you can.

Unlike, DC, CW have many, many more tools to use and almost all (excluding Maelstrom and some of the class features) are effective in some situation or other.

I guess if the aggro has to go somewhere, it should go to those who at least have the tools to deal with it, with a bit of help.

I do not pot much more on my CW as on my DC (their self-healing sucks), unless I am learning a fight.

But yes, post patch, everyone's potion costs have gone through the roof. The admins explicitly said that was the intent too...
