Companion questions

Hi, so I have a few questions about companions.

1. I see people in dungeons without their companion summoned. Are they gimping themselves? Are they benefitting from their companions stats / abilities?
2. The companion runestones: Do they stack? If I put two runestones of the same type in, lets say "two eldritch runestone rank 2, owner gains 4% of pets stats"...will I then gain 8%? Or should I only have one in there?

Thanks,

Some people use special companions that are non-combat - they just provide their stats to the owner. If they don't have one of those, and don't have any other companion out, then yes, they are at a disadvantage.

AFAIK, you can slot multiples of the same rune stone for an increased benefit. Now, I don't know if the bonus is combined, then applied, or if it's applied, then applied a second time...

    1. Could be, but there are other scenarios to this... A player decides to Dismiss the Companion to try out his/her attacking or defensive capabilities and effectiveness, the Companion has died in a particular place and haven't been revived (or self-revive) yet, they forgot to summon their Companion or they simply think a Companion is unnecessary for that situation because sometimes worrying about reviving your Companion all the time is not worth it, although they self-revive which could take some time before it occurs.

    2. On my previous knowledge, it still works. What's your Companion anyway? I have a Cleric which I focused on increasing her max HP with Empowered Runestones, an Icon and Necklace because she keeps on dying... but I need her healing abilities for my GWF.
