Hey guys. I have had my first quest up for several weeks now, debating on and off when to make a thread. Few friends kept telling me I should just make the thread so here we go its up! If you have time please check it out!

Dreamscapes

On the streets of Neverwinter rumors spread of citizens who have fallen into a deep sleep, one in which they cannot awake. City officials deny it, the guards ignore any questions related to it. However while traveling through the city you are contacted by Thea, a young street urchin who sends you to the One-eyed Wench, setting you on the path to unraveling the truth.

Chapter I: Darkly Dreaming (Now Live) NW-DPSH5O5XY
Chapter II: Shattered Dreams (Now Live)
Chapter III: The Dreamthralled (Story & Concept Done)
Chapter IV: Dream A Little Evil (Story & Concept Done)

About My Stories
The One-eyed Wench
As of now all my quests will be launching from 'The One-eyed Wench' tavern map. There will always be new things to check out on this map. Songs, food and beverage list, real recipes, npcs coming, npcs going and more. New lore will become available each quest. For instance if you read a letter in quest one and come back to play the next part, you will find the old letter (likely stored away in a new spot), however there may be a new letter to expand upon information you learned earlier.

Quest/Choice Tracking
There is a room in Dezra's laboratory. Its a hidden room, but not so much. This room has one purpose, to help you immerse yourself more, to enhance future quests. I will keep this short and sweet. Basically if in quest 1 you were given the option of Killing Lord Brutan or Sparing him this would normally mean nothing in quest 2... because the system does not track that information. I have created a side system that does. There will be objects placed in this room, simply come here FIRST each time you enter the tavern to progress to the next quest and visit this room. Each object will be tied to a decision and you can pick up and optional quest item to represent your progress. In the case of our example decision you would either pick up mission item [Memory, Killed Lord Brutan] or [Memory, Spared Lord Brutan]. Sidequests and relics you pick up in my dungeon may/will be tracked this way as well, this will make your choices less throwaway from previous quests. Once you are done picking up your quest objects continue the quest and continue to explore as normal and you will come across some optional things! This system is going to work best for single player runs. So be sure to try the quest solo even if you run it with a group so you can more easily take your time and take advantage of this!

Relics
Each dungeon map will have relics it in. Basically these are optional scavenger hunt items that are hidden in hard to get or hidden locations. Hand these items in to Dezra at the end of your quest BEFORE looting your final chest to learn about them. These may tie into future quests or sidequests in later missions. However one thing that is definite is that each time you do a new quest the relics from the previous quest will appear as decorations in the tavern. So players who did not collect the items can say "Oh cool, new items on the map" but players who took the time to collect these can say "Oh cool, those are here because of ME!"
ATTENTION FOUNDRY AUTHORS

So I realize, I am going to be needing to flesh out my tavern in EACH new quest. I don't have a set number of skins, I will just add NPC's until I feel the map has enough to give it a good atmosphere without making it too busy. So if any authors here want to have any of their NPC's as patrons in my tavern as sort of a little Easter egg I would love to recreate them for you. I just ask that you give me the base NPC/sliders/colors by linking me screenshots. I would say lets keep these NPCs to the playable races. A pit fiend would seem out of place in my tavern lol...

HOWEVER if you have some crazy character skin you want to submit as an enemy as long as you drop me a bit of lore about it and the skin info I can possibly create that for a little sidequest system that will be in place in the tavern from quest 2 onwards ;). I suggest PMing me that though.

Any overflow of NPC skins will be placed in the next quest in the order they are posted. So if your NPC does not make it into quest 2 it may be in 3, or 4 etc. Possibly even added to older quests as I tinker with them!

I'm currently playing your quest: so far - love it! And I'm still in the tavern! Love the RP and enveloping story, the way you have side quests and over-carrying quests, some great ideas I may have to implement  Few things before I forget (and most of these are pretty perfectionist):

-The rug straight in front of you when you enter is flashing into the floor, so needs to me moved up a touch.
-The chair you examine that acts as the group of adventurers has default name, though I'd maybe make it the table instead of the chair?
-The woman watching the dreamers upstairs mentions Jupiter? Not sure if this is purposeful and part of the dream or something, but thinking about it there aint a Jupiter in FR (I don't think anyway!) :D

All I can remember for now, I'll update as I play if I can. Had to do something with foundry down :P So naturally looked for ideas to steal! ;D You may see some monster cages appearing in my quest...

    Oh, ok, Jupiter's a chicken :)

Ok, nothing else stood out to me. Was a great quest, fantastic storyline, good balance! I thought I was thorough and did everything, but I only found 2 relics! That's good though, and I cant wait for the next!

I played Darkly Dreaming, the body and brain cages in your signature drew me in because I use them too in my quest. I was really surprised at how well constructed your quest is: story, decor, and costumes are all awesome.

A short solo hack-n-slash: The Dirty Dwarf

THanks, I did take a fair amount of time coming up with the concept and all that. Though next week I plan to overhaul and add some more details and redo all the lightning to be more custom.

Glad you enjoyed it. Will add yours to my list, may end up reaching it tonight before bed.

Also for those of you running my dungeon, as stated there are three relics hidden within the main dungeon. Let me know which if any you find, curious to see which ones people find and which ones they don't hehe.

Oh wow. I had seen your quest on the list for awhile now when I would log in and do my Ctrl+I daily, but because I was always in the foundry I hadn't touched it yet.. lmao I was not expecting to see that "Bad Guy" name at the end of the quest, now I am interested to see how your Dreamscape series progresses differently from the one I am writing lol...Needless to say I just finished it and really enjoyed it.

    Darkly Dreaming (Currently Re-Publishing)

    Updated (Ver. 1.1.5)
    • -Tortured Dreamers are now ignored by enemies
    • -Some encounters removed/relocated
    • -NPC Laughing Jack Swagger is now more noticeably for your amusement
    • -You can now OPTIONALLY spawn assistance for final boss fight. By speaking with Dezra for the last time before the final boss you can choose to have her summon her Eidolon Brawn and a set of illusionary allies for the final battle. If this encounter is wiped during the final battle one more 2-man ally encounter will spawn in the final room.

I am awaiting republish so I can confirm these changes fully.

    Future changes
    • Next update will likely include the complete removal of default lightning effects from rooms and complete customized lighting in the environments.
    • A new COMBAT sidequest will be added to the One-eyed Wench.
    • Misc new details will be added.

EDIT: Ran through and every adjustment seems to be working properly. Though it seems sound is bugged again? My background music seems to be dead.. again.

so, may I ask, how long until Part 2?

If all goes well, it comes out end of this week, early next week. I am about 30 minutes away from going back into foundry to finish off the last of the story dialogue and main trigger events/encounters. Then I just need to work on polish, adding another sidequest, new options in the tavern and placing the relic hunt and it should be good to go for initial testing :)

Just wanted to update. Part two will be out early next weeks. Monday/Tuesday as long as two things go well. No major life events causing issues and foundry not crashing for several days again.

Work on the main quest in part 2 is done. All I need to do is ending dialogue before chest. However I need to finish fleshing out my optional stuff. New songs, recipes, dialogue trees, lore and some sidequests... as well as implementing the mission items which represent your choices and actions from the previous quest. I am excited about that feature though.

As far as the final two parts go I am hoping to get them out faster and without rushing. Whenever I have any sort of creative/writers block I go through my notes on later maps/quests and work on them until I get the creative spark again. As such as I have completed the majority of quest IV's (the final chapter) map, some of chapter III's map and most of what is not finished for 3 is already down on paper as a rough draft.

I hope you guys enjoy the next part as well as the rest of the story.
