Auction house whats wrong with it?

is there any reason why bidding on things in the auction house is bugged?
trying to buy a mount, waited for the last minute as i watched the timer go down i got outbid so then the problems start
1/ why do i have to go all the way to the mail guy to get my astro diamonds after i have been outbid
2/ why when it shows in my account that i have more then enough astro diamonds to make another bid, yet i have to go and get my original astro diamonds that where outbid from the mail guy
3/ waited for timer to tick down into the 10sec range, but the auction wouldnt let me place another bid
4/ why cant i put whatever amount for a bid, is there a general calculation for what increments it accepts or do i always have to accept the default bid price.

I can sure bid on things when they start counting in the negatives. In fact, I was outbid because of this quite a few times.
Really sucks to lose an item you're going to wear only to see it back on the AH by some jerk who's upselling it by a ludicrous amount.
