Merging the Shards. When?

I ran a couple of searches but have found nothing. Tired of not being able to run with my guildies and friends because we are on different shards. ALSO Want to be able to mail things to different shards.

Anyone heard anything on this?

Hopefully not soon , this will be a clear sign that the game lacks population and will be labeled as " dead " as soon as they merge the shards .

Ergw432 THAT was an old announcement, its gone beyond anyone's reasonable definition of "Soon" With the announcement of going live Im expecting it be imminently not just soon. As for merging the shards indicating a dead game. HARDLY. I like the response on Mindflayer too, but I need to join up with my Guildies and friends. Im assuming they have a frame with several partitions set up to run the game, with the shards being logical partitions, merging the logical (aka virtual) should not change the response times. The various performances you see on different shards are most likely due to different optimizations being tried on each....once they find the right optimization they can then merge the virtual shards and get better overall performance. (Im guessing here based on my own real life work)

I was about to say the exact same thing :D. Sorry, but I am not anticipating inheriting Dragon's economy.

I think instead of a merge they will allow server transfers, because if the zone chats is a mess of WTS-LFG with 3 shards, then on 1, the thing that comes to mind is world one of runescape, the trade world, if any of you played runescape then you knows what it means, also i know some people go to moonstone to RP ( i dont RP ) and they use say chat, and even by instancing moonstone it will make hard for RP people (because of overpopulation) to have their privacy and enjoy their games.

The only answer I have is soon. There's no plans for when the merge will occur.
As soon as the plans are finalized you'll know but for now the inly information is that it will happen. :)

I don't understand why they're merging the 3 servers anyway. I was always under the impression that companies only did that when the population of their game dwindled.

Because the 3 servers were only intended for the start to help with population issues. If you look at CO and STO, they are both single server games and have been since they launched.
