Wouldn’t it be great if we could pick the appearance of our companions? And just look, we have a method of doing that very thing in the foundry. Sure it’s a little clunky but you can polish it up in time.
Can you imagine making your Man-at-arms a blonde Adonis or a cranky old man? Make your spell caster an astral sea-captain. Make your cleric a vixen or a half-orc shamaness.
And of course for the DeezNutzz crowd you can make them have tiny little heads or great big butts to monkeywrench everyone else’s’ experience.
So there are some downsides but I think the positives outweigh them. Giving everyone the opportunity to craft personalized and individualized companions seems like a way to make boring clerics more than just a carbon copy one picks up in passing.
Consider leveraging your costume system for use with companions.

There needs to be more customization with companions than just selecting between 4 skins.
I am gobsmacked that this wasn't included....IN A FREAKING CRYPTIC GAME? We should at the very least have the customization of the STO away teams. if they were going to give companions static story arcs to play out like SWTOR I would have understood this (but even in swtor you can change your companions appearance) But there is no reason not to do it here...Cryptic is shooting themselves in the foot by not letting us customize and gear them, because those are less things we are going to the AH/seal vendor/Zen shop for.
This is a huge what the hell were they thinking talking point.
