Just a quick question for my fellow thieves. I have all purples now though mostly from seals and I use pvp set, though I just have 7.8 gs because I have no enchantments yet. My question is if it is worth it to put rank 5 enchants or I should just put rank 4 instead ? and if rank 4 would make it to 8.3 gs .
I dont want to make any make mistake since I currently dont have enough money to change my gear or enchants right now.
I mostly just toss in rank 5's. They are pretty inexpensive. Rank 6+ start to get costly.
Its really not worth removing anything lower than a rank 6 from an item since you can usually pick up a replacement from the AH cheaper then the extraction fee.
When I first geared my Rogue in T1 I did'ent bother putting anything in the Utility slots (helm / gloves / boots) although now with T2 gear I do put in darks (Movement)

Toss in 5's, worry about better when you have some T2 gear.
you should find enough rank 4s to make a rank 5 to put in epic gear just from bashing around. I get a rank 3-4 about every other group of mobs in hotnow & the drow or mindflayer areas. I get a sack of them every hour or so from playing the egg hunt games as well. I get another sackfull every hour or so from looting crafting nodes. Basically, rank 4s are a dime a dozen and popping them to rank 5 is worth it. Rank 6+, wait until you are sure you will wear the item a "while".
Another trick: get your once a week coins as augment bags and you will get some wards to make the 4-5 fuse work safely. If you get a 100% ward (blue type) you can make a rank 6 with that safely. That is my rule of thumb anyway, 4-5 with a green ward and 5-6 with a blue.
Oh, and it should be obvious but maybe not --- utility enchantments are largely garbage and you should leave them empty on temporary gear, or use a rank 4 in those items. The only exception is a pvp player wanting movement stacked high and those players should use the best they can get to buff movement.
