Game Release date?

Everywhere i look it says "Early 2013", we are already ahead of that date but, we have a permanent open Beta that appears will last forever, so should we consider this already the game release or is there really a planned release date?

We should consider this Open Beta till Cryptic says otherwise. Their game their rules.

"Release" of a game doesn't mean there will be no more updates. Current state of the game officially is beta, but most gamers know this is technically "release", but that doesn't change the fact Cryptic has said there are still updates coming at us, for example, the ranger class.

Well then maybe it's just my way of thinking that is too old school lol

In any case, i feel that a more clear explanation from Cryptic of what will happen to our characters, Zen and all sort of real money purchases, when "Beta" ends.

So far i feel they are avoiding the issue and honestly that is making me hesitant to buy anything with real money so far.

Cryptic has repeatedly said "no wipes."
"Participation in PVP-related activities is so low on an hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly basis that we could in fact just completely take it out of STO and it would not impact the overall number of people [who] log in to the game and play in any significant way." -Gozer, Cryptic PvP Dev

Nothing. Exploiters stay richer, keep looking more exploits to be even more richer. Most people just keep playing and don't give a flying farg about whole "game economy".

Now this is the story all about how
My char. got rich, turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute just sit right down
I'll tell you how I became the prince of the town

On Neverwinter's Dragon Shard created and played
In the auctionhouses where I spent most of my days
Buying out, pricing, reselling all brave
And undercutting others inside the enclave
When I used an exploit, so easy to find
Starting fusing chants, please don't even mind
I got one greater chant and my money went void
And said "You're going to rollback the servers to before the exploit"

I put in four shards and startet to fuse, swapped
out the ward with an Item, I never use.
If anything I could say that this cheat was rare
But I thought nah, forget it, I don't even care!

I pulled up to my auctions about seven or eight
And I yelled to my horse "Yo, mount smell you later!"

First: This guys win Post of the Year award hahaha.

Second: This game is Live and released, you know how i know?
On the opposite side, we do have a lot of things in the works (including the list above) that we’ve been spending much more time on, rather than trying to rush them out the door as quickly as possible. Because we are treating Neverwinter as a live game, we’re making sure to spend the appropriate amount of time planning and testing these changes before they go live.

Speaking of testing, as we progress through OBT and near the official live launch, we'll be standing up a Public Test Shard or PTS. That way we can make "Wild West" changes on there and ensure that only quality fixes make it into the OBT. To those who have played our other games, you probably know that this is one of the main ways that we fix bugs, collect feedback, and stress test our games before the content goes to the live servers

They treat it like live and opening a PUBLE TEST SHARD. Why open a test shard during an Open Beta...unless this isnt a beta...

Edit: Forums ate up my post =((

Basically, every MMO is in open beta when you think about it. Frequent patches and regular content updates mean that these games are never complete, as they are always growing. I think they're going to keep using the "open beta" talking point keyword to keep justifying the endless array of bugs and missing polish. "Oh, things aren't perfect right now because we're still in open beta.."

Things will never be perfect in this type of game. There will always be bugs; some old, some new. For every exploit they fix, another one will crop up. It's a never ending cycle of whack-a-mole when it comes to problems in MMO's. "Open beta" reminds me of the "war on terrorism". It's so vague that they can keep it going perpetually to justify their actions or lack thereof.

That wannabe bel-air thing is awful. Doesn't flow at all, is more of a headache to read if you try to match it with the original, so my only judgement is it's your post. No one in their right mind can actually find that amusing, unless ofcourse... you are actually on drugs and you're not in your right mind. If that's the case, I apologize.

I agree that MMO are allways an on-going development but like neyph69 said... if they want trust and people to follow their word and in the end... to spend money with their work, we should be treated fairly and not seeing all this "hidding" behind OBT while we fill their pockets.

At least saying that OBT will end around that area, there will be a realm for testing stuff as they said and in my opinion... just follow a more trustworthy line.

You have no connection to your childhood OR your just too young to be a fan of fresh prince if you found zero amusement in that. And if all you came here to say is that you found no amusement in that parody and offer no input on the topic of discussion then i dont see a point in your post. I found it humorous and im not on drugs(currently =() so your statement regarding how everyone else feels is void.

Keep eating that spoon fed "Its not live cause they say its not" BS. They banned people, they take real money(not a big deal since alot of Open Beta f2p do i guess), they are opening up a "Public Test Shard" to test things before it goes to there so called "Open Beta(which is so very redundant), and they stated that they are treating the game as a Live release. Just because i mark a box diamonds and sell you **** doesnt make my **** diamonds.

"Early 2013" ends June 30th. However, that's a target date range, not a commitment to a specific date.

Actually I am not a grouch at all, it just wasn't amusing. It was about as amusing as someone throwing the word poopie randomly in a song and calling it a parody. It's some little boy rewording a song because he thinks hes cool for posting an exploit.

You added that quote from some hacking site, and you speak of people being too young, clearly you're some teen googling "omg neverwinter h4x", so your whole post is void. Also if you took the time to go through the thread, even the first page of it, you'd see I already added my input to the topic of discussion.

The game is far from being complete. It's still a beta. If this was an official release, so many video game sites would give it a bad review and make fun of it! But labeling it as a "beta" gives Cryptic a bit of breathing room so they can continue tweaking and fixing it before they can allow game review sites to go all out on'em!

For starters, game review sites will not tolerate the fact that 2 classes in this game are completely useless. For crying out loud, ROGUES ARE THE BEST TANKS IN THIS GAME! Why isn't the GF an actual tank? They are so broken beyond belief that Cryptic needs to resolve this before they announce that this game is "released"!

As of now, GF are useless, rogues tank the boss, CW push the neverending spawn of adds from hitting the healer, in which the healer generates so much aggro no matter how good your GF tank is or no matter how much damage a TR or CW deals to the mobs. End-game dungeons are just pure broken! GF need to be revamped to become the dedicated tanks! Can you just imagine video game review sites warning it's readers to NOT roll a GF if they intend to play a tank in Neverwinter? This game would become the laughing stock of the MMORPG genre! Tank class can't tank, instead it's the squishy rogues who tank while a wizard's sole role is to bounce enemies off the healer. That's NOT how a MMORPG's holy trinity is supposed to work!

Then there's also the fact that the AH search filters are broken. I know there's a trick to find what I need, but i'm getting a little irritated by it.

Dungeons need a Vote Kick system to prevent the group leader from just booting players right before they kill the last boss of a dungeon.

Rolling Need on BOE items needs to force a character bind if you rolled Need to discourage ninja looters.

    And so much more!

I like this game a lot, I've already spent a lot of money and I don't regret anything about it! But the only reason why I accept all it's flaws is because it's a "beta"! Go to any video game webpage, like IGN or Gamespot, and they haven't reviewed Neverwinter yet! No one has! If you find a site that gave Neverwinter a score rating, write to the Editor and tell them they are idiots cause they just reviewed a beta, an unfinished game!
