I am about to buy more character slots, and I'd like somebody's opinion on a new class to play. I have tried a DC, got him up to about 30 and got bored, and now I'm having a blast with my GF and I, well... like my TR mainly because I play with a friend.
Now, I want to reserve one spot for the new class, whenever it is released, so I ask you: should I make a wizard or a great weapon fighter?
IMPORTANT: I do not care about the difficulty or my likelihood to enter dungeons, I don't care if the CW is more powerful and can control more adds or if the GWF is garbage and blah blah blah. I want to know which class is the most fun. That means that I don't want to make a GWF and then play the whole game using just my left click.
So, what I'd like is for wizards and fighters to post their experiences of their classes here, always fun-wise, regardless of difficulty or usefulness.
PS: How many people do you think will whine about the GWFs being garbage in this thread? I say >10.
I would say you should try CW because I've found that playing a GF and GWF are similar so it would be good for variety. That being said, if you don't end up liking it you can always delete the character and try the other.
Mm. My recommendation would be to go for the CW; GWF is a fair class, reasonably durable and what not, but it kills so slowly at low levels that it quickly becomes boring. CW is, in fact, much squishier, but the variety of powers and the speed that your can burn mobs to the ground makes it more fun and dynamic IMO.
So far I have played Divine Cleric, Trickster Rogue and a Control Wizard. All in all, I find the melee classes to be the ones to just "hold left-click" and playing a wizard was seriously fun playing the game mainly solo until level 60. I had no problems until the level 50 range when your white companion becomes utterly useless. I suggest out of all three classes I have played so far I suggest you try the Control Wizard, not just for the amount of Controlling or saying they are "OP" It was just my favorite class to beat the game single-handedly, walk in to pvp with junk gear and still rock house, join a dungeon and never be kicked ( Because you are a very valuable position for every dungeon ) So, all in all there is WAY too many rogues, and not enough Divine Clerics / Control Wizards, that is my point of view, I hope it helped mate!

I started both a CW and a GWF ath the same time and i was going to level them evenly but around level 20 or so the GWF was just so much more fun that he is now at level 58 while my CW is still at level 21
Thanks for all the great answers, seems like I'll go for a wizard after all. Well, that is, when I get the 50 Zen I'm missing to buy the slots.
Also, wow, no hating for the GWFs? This community has grown up...*sniff*
EDIT: Dammit, just as I thought I had decided, werealchemist answers and turns it all around. I'd appreaciate you telling me exactly what was so fun about the GWF, werealchemist, if you can spare the time...
Well... I will say this. My main was a GWF and also have a few low low lvl alts that I have played around with. With me the GWF just got boring and I have given up leveling it at lvl 40. As it stands I am now waiting on the next class to come out and hoping I actually like it.

Buy moar slots. Play one of each? ^_^
That's my plan.
Control Wizard is boring as snot cakes... and snot cakes are pretty boring. You shove things around like a
sissy.
I'd go with the GWF. Buy a Cleric Hireling and send it to yourself.
Buy a #$%^ ton of potions, what else are you going to use that gold on? First Skill purchase should be "Mighty Leap." Get the daily "Slam" at 10.
Tie a bib around your neck. This is to catch your berserk slobber IRL. Shift Run towards a group of enemies, "Mighty Leap" into the center, "Not So Fast" to instant strike them again, then finish up by charging your Right Click just enough to kill them. Add in Unstoppable and Slam as soon as they are available. Stir and let simmer.
As long as you aren't scared to quaff a potion or two (and you'll drink a ton), the GWF is a hell of a lot more entertaining than the CW.
I have one of each at lvl 25ish, and they're both fun. If I could only keep one though I'd probably keep the GWF. She's not as fast at killing as the wizard, I just find swinging that massive weapon around a lot of fun. I'll assume they'll eventually fix the balance issues.

I have both a CW and a GWF. Both classes are fun instantly. You can destroy mobs with both classes and have fun either pew pewing or bashing 3 skulls at once. I have leveled my CW up to level 60. The only problem is when soloing and you pull more than one group you can sometimes spend a lot of time just running in circles waiting for your powers to come up so you do not die. Especially if you pull 3 groups on accident and, each of these groups happens to have 5+ monsters. My GWF is almost 20 and I have had a blast playing her as well definitely not much of an issue with keeping some mobs at range and your worthless companion lives more often with the GWF from my experience.
Both classes are fun depends if you want to pew pew or bash skulls really.

I personally prefer the GWF because it has high surviveabilty his at-will he gets at level 30 is an amazingly awesome, his melee AoE damage is really good. and i can 1 combo stun-kill people in PvP

Also from level 1-58 i have only died 3 times so.....
My first character was a Tiefling GWF, and I leveled him to 60. Now I have two other GWFs that I'm leveling -- a Menzoberranzan Renegade and a Half-Orc. I'm trying different companions and power/feat combinations with each one to see how (or if) they play differently. It really is fun to wade into a group of enemies and mow them all down with just a few swings of a sword or axe. And yes, there are some upper-level axes in the game.
Obviously, I would vote for GWF as your next class.
I took my TR to 60 first and then made a CW it's a huge difference in fighting styles and took a LOT of getting used to but if you've already played as a DC it shouldn't be so difficult. I just made a DC myself and so far am enjoying her but I think between the two I like the CW better. My TR will always be my favorite though. My main reason for creating the third character in the first place was I wanted to create a Tiefling and I thought the whole idea of a Tiefling DC to be kind of nifty
That said I like the person's idea about creating them both and playing them to 10 to see which you like best.
We dont know the time the next class will be released. with AD:Zen so cheap right now you could easily get enough AD to purchase another 2 characters slots. Personally, I'd roll both to 11 and start invoking while using Leadership to get more Rough Astral Diamonds to add to the Exchange balance, then buy more character slots.
Open the Launcher. Click Options near the top. Check Disable on-demand patching. This will download another couple of gigs.

...aaand we have a winner. Best idea, will do just that.

I lean towards the wizard though, both for roleplaying reasons and to play something different.
Specially if your trying to win the zone event .
