Hi. Im lvl 60 and I have the full Shadow Weaver set. When I play Dungeons, players are telling me that I dont need anything that we might pick up, since I already have better (only talking about my own class items).
Should I just stop playing now or what is the gameplan for me now? I dont really see the point playing and not getting anything out from it just because I have managed to get my self the better gear before others.
Yeah sure, I would sell them. So what? There are still expensive stuff that i need and I cant get them without getting stuff to sell.
Wait a minute... you want to roll need on items that you're not going to use, but instead, sell them? You realize that's the purpose of a greed roll, right?

If I play with players that have worse gear than me they would always pick need. Then I would end up with nothing in all dungeons since there is always some players that always need it.
So Im asking again, why should I play if i never would get anything?

This system really sucks.
So you don't need them, you greed them. You've made a thread about how greedy you are and by pressing need on items you don't want to use how much of a prick you are to your group. In my group you would be out@ignored after first boss. That is all.
You dont see the point Im making. WHY should I play if I cant get anything out of it. Just answear the question. The whole system that handles this sucks becuse the players with no gear get all and the rest get nothing.

Am I missing something or would this not in fact be the general definition of Greed in a Need/Greed system.
OP you still have a shot on all greed rolled items so u may still end up with something on a dungeon run. If you feel so strongly this way just don't run dungeons then. Rolling Need when there are others in your group that CLEARLY Need it more is just plan bad manners. Would would you do with all the class stuff was Bind on Pickup, guess you would NEED roll it to sell to vendors for a few silver pieces.

I would end up with nothing since the other CW had no good gear = he would get everything. And am I supposed to inspect all players to make sure they really need it? What if they just use bad gear for the dungeon to get everything?

It’s not greed, what he is telling is that he don't want to do charity just for random people whose normal thinning is that everyone else are idiots and they are the only one that need anything. So he is in the situation where the only thing he need is objects that are not looteble. So in order to get them he need the items in the dungeons. Problem is that he got the best gear in the game.
In general I have to say you got to put on greed. What you can do is use the chat to tell that you are inviting people to on an all greed run. Or try to run with a guild. But if you join the normal Queue system I got to say one have to follow the “normal” rule of need and greed. But if you invite a party to run with then you decide the loot method.
Im saying that in a party there are five players. All players are there to kill adds and bosses and hopefully all five players helps to win the dungeon. Im there and Im helping the group to win. Why shouldnt I get the same chance to any gear (for my own class)?
I mean, even if I already have a better belt or what ever, its still as valuable to me as for a player that dont have it. We are both there and playing to get better gear. I just have to sell the stuff to get my better gear. Im there doing the same amount of work, maybe even more if I have better gear than the other CW. I still need stuff that cost a lot of AD that I cant afford if I dont get anything out of playing dungeons.
Just to clarify: I have never pick need on anything that is not for my own class. And I always pass on all the green stuff and I share the skill nodes and chests in the dungeons. Im really not greedy. I just want the same chance to get better gear like the others.

With my two lvl 60s my general rule of thumb is NEED on obvious improvements or Un-ID'd class items, GREED on all non-class items and lower quality class, and PASS on all other items not my class but guess thats just me. IMO selling stuff on the AH is the definition of GREED.

So group with guildmates that don't require the same gear as you so you can AH it and not be a tool to the general population.
It's like saying person a needs a kidney to live, but person b wants to sell it on the black market so he can buy a car - both are entitled to it just as much as the other herp derp durrrrrrr.
If you already have the best gear in the game and want to remain fair to others who don't have it (very nice of you) you should group up with people who are also already geared up or just do dungeons as a solo CW (being the only CW I don't think anyone would object you "need" for your class items).
I roll need for my class items I want to sell only when I notice another of my class is trying to ninja it (inspecting your team-mates at start does not hurt and can protect you from some ******-bags instead - that's the Internet 2013).
With the current rules it is clearly your choice. I would just play by what you think feels right to you. If you feel bad about needing on such items don't do it, but if you feel that you should have some reward for doing the dungeon then at least needing on some items is fine imo.
Try and check out what other players in your group have equipment wise. I wouldn't need on that T2 sword if someone else really needs it for example.
Just need it. Since you can AH all gear, even things you can't use or are worse than what you're currently wearing gets you better gear(or a cat or an alternate set or rez scrolls or enchants or full hp pots etc.). Honestly they should just remove greed as a loot option.

Yeah just need for everything because you can just sell it and buy yourself some extra gear. Give those geared with greens no chance. Let's need for priest items, need for guardian items etc. What's the difference. Let's all be sorry fkers. Yeah! Why not?! AH is there. Hurrrayyy!!

Its this reasoning that everyone has been NEEDING (even on your class item that you really needed) on everything. Two wrongs don't make a right. It has to stop somewhere. I say NEED on items you can/intent to use, GREED on general vendor items, PASS on other ppl's (class) items.
I have run entire dungeons passing on everything just to try and stop the, "I need to NEED on everything because everyone is will NEED if I don't" mentality.

It seems the game was designed for everyone to just need- the greed button is basically redundant. However, the state of the game notes say something about a change in the works, so hopefully that will resolve the issue.

It actually gives them a more reasonable chance than the current system. If a player in all greens needs on everything like they should they're going to get AD just like the guy who already has gear will, allowing him to buy the gear he needs. The only reason you think it's wrong Mr Sarcasm is because you're not willing to look passed the instant gratification of, "Oh look shiny," since in the end the result is the same, you get your gear just like everyone else does.
I could go into, how you would actually get your gear faster and the prices of items would drop but since you thought about what I said for less than two minutes before making a snide comment I'm just going to assume you wouldn't understand.

Look, AH is there because it serves the business model of the game well, also it is some possibility to get our gear. BUT doing dungeons and getting gear through team-play is (or should be) the most and primary source of things we wear in MMOs. I see no reason why some trickster rouge should get a very rare priest icon instead of a priest, who wants it very much. You play with others so let them have this genuine joy of getting actual loot.
That's why I hate current model so much: it turns people into some greedy fkin businessmen who think only about what they can sell, what to buy. Experiencing the game and having fun with others is here infact less important than getting money from AH for other shinies.

The second half of your statement makes no sense, effectively you're staying that if someone wants to change the system so everyone gets their loot faster it makes them greedy? It's a good change for everyone and pretty much the opposite of Capitalism, everyone has equal right to everything. Also, to some people getting money from the AH is the most important part of the game, it's naive to think; since I don't enjoy it that's not how it's meant to be. People enjoy the game differently and they need to have things in the game to make everyone happy.
Back to your first point. I agree, I actually don't need unless I'm going to use the item but it's really ****ty in a game where there are no BOP items. In order for them to fix the problem they'd need to remove the need option from gear not of your class, make BOP items and punish ninja looters or make their lfg system queue one of each class. I think the easier answer is remove greed, I also think it's a more healthy answer, but, I don't expect everyone to agree. Instant gratification is a really strong force, hell their entire business model is based on it.

This is not about Need/Greed . This about rewards in a dungeon. Clearly there is no upgrades dropping in the dungeons he is doing. So , the real question is , WHY are you doing the dungeon? Isn't there a more difficult dungeon to do, with upgrades?
If you're simply doing the dungeons "for fun" , then WHY are you caring about the loot? (and what others are rolling?)
In my WoW Raiding days, i remember we would be repeating 25man dungeon over and over and not get any loot upgrades. The boss would drop 1 or 2 items which the entire 25 man raid had to "fight" over, and maybe the 10th time you might get an item that is an upgrade for you.

So Im asking again, why should I play if i never would get anything?
