so ive been trying to complete mad dragon with little success. Ive gotten to the dragon quite a few times and the lowest the group ive been in has been 24% by that time the BIG BIG adds are out. trying to pick up all the hellspawns and other elite adds is difficult. any suggestions or tips that would help me out with this? (only lvl 34 btw) or is it more like lolgf reroll ****.

You need to get 1 more level and get threatening rush and make sure enhanced mark is slotted as a passive. It lets you move around marking up adds to generate some agro on them. Also tell your DPS to INSTANTLY focus the mages when they spawn in.
Yeah, that is a tough fight. Also, make sure to watch the way you face the dragon, keep the breath away from your party. In one of my attempts, on the one we got closest on, our own GF ended up wiping up, by trying to help with adds on the cleric. So, we had the adds and the dragon beating on the DPS. Got ugly.
Also, all the adds seem to have CC, so, that makes it an extra pain!
Drop your companions, less adds. It's simple, I did it a number of times, in epic as well. At 60% and 30% health the dragon drops it's biggest and most powerful add groups, remember that. Otherwise, imps appear frequently and the maguses always appear at 12 o' clock (exit door in the room) and 6 o' clock, back and forth. Never the same place twice in a row, they appear on one side, then the other. A good idea is to have a strong TR facing the dragon as the rest of the party deals with the adds. Get the magus out of the way first. You'll do fine then.
This is the first "difficult" boss fight in the game. The first 2 dungeons and first 2 bosses of Lair of the Mad Dragon can pretty much be rolled strait through with little to no difficulty, coordination, or skill.
I've been farming this boss for a little over a week now and it seems PUG groups are really starting to get annoyed with this boss and are starting to listen up much more. Last 2 tries I've had PUGs get it first try, and the few before they got it eventually.
Now this is the strat and rundown I use for epic, but it isn't much different from normal. Having said that, getting the group all on the same page, understanding their roles, and playing smart, BEFORE you start the fight is a must.
I play a GF, and my job in this fight is to more or less solo the dragon. I run in first with lunging strike and taunt the boss. I turn him away from the rest of the party, and use potions and fighters recovery when i need heals. I cleave down imps as they hit me and ignore the magi and leave them to the DPS.
The cleric"s job is to keep up an astral sheild(duh) behind the boss and act as a focus point for the rest of the party. Smashing down imps as he can and more or less just keeping everyone alive.
Depending on party composition you will have 3 mixed classes, maybe 4 if no GF. Either way the strat is the same. 2 dps work with the cleric to kill off adds and keep him safe. The CW if u have one adds dps to boss and control where he can. This can be subbed out for any other class, but CW does it best.
At 75% health the first big spawn of adds shows up. They aren't too difficult, just get them together and burn them down. At 25% health is when the pain starts. The second wave of adds has a Devil shocktrooper and some healers. The erinyes healers are the big issue most parties have and should be target priority for DPS and control. They need to be focused down one at a time as fast as possible. They will heal the dragon and the rest of the adds if you let them and they make the fight miserable.
After the healer adds go down, mop up the rest of the second add spawn and then switch to full burn on the dragon and it's a wrap. Whoever is tanking the dragon CANNOT help out with the rest of the party. If they are good they can pick up an add or 2 with the dragon to lessen the stress on the rest of the group during the second add spawn. I personally try to snag the shocktrooper away to keep them focused on the healers. But the main idea here is to keep the dragon facing away from the group so they don't have to deal with the extra massive aoes.
If everyone is staying on task the fight is pretty simple and shouldn't take much more than 10-20 minutes. Hope this helps ya out!
all wonderful strats and thanks cjet for that in depth start. ill deftinley work on that! i bought 60 health pots this morning to do it. seems last 2 attempts i went though about 40ish. but then again it was 2 gfs, cleric, tr and a cw. one gf was on the dragon and i was on adds. didnt really work that well though. but ill be working on this fight. its a pain to wipe but it is def fun.

GF on the dragon hahaahha. No, put the TR there. Cleric keep the adds busy as the others trash them, pay attention to their appearance and times of appearance. It's a marathon fight in epic, but if you have a TR who knows what they're doing it will go smoothly.

While I never succeeded, I did like the fight.

So you want 2 gimped dps GF to kill the adds?
