damned if they do damned if they don't.

Make it quick, peopel say its too easy. Make it longer, people will complain its a grind. I'm all for the grind, oriental MMOs are the way to go. FFXI was #1 in this aspect, Aion pretty close.

Well, if you enjoy mindless grinding you can always just start killing random monsters at level 60 until you feel like you've spent the proper amount of time doing it.

^It'll get you some easy money too. Leveling is even faster if you do it during the Foundry times as well. I have no problem with it. End game content is what mmos are all about for hard core players.

Gring gear at 60, make alts, I do not think this game was ever meant to be about the leveling grind, it is about the adventure.
Please check out my foundry quests!

I'm sorry are you meaning Me? I am by no means cheating. No foundry, no Delves, The Only exploit is I am playing a Rogue. I have only played the actual adventure and some of the side quests. Our characters progress way to fast to introduce any Canon Heroes as NPCs. They would be only fit to be our henchmen at best.

I see no virtue in a grind but if they doubled the number of quests in each zone and halved the xp rate, that would be OK by me. What I do NOT want to see is having to repeat content 40 times to progress to another area --- that is garbage that can stay in the other MMOS. I agree xp is too fast, but without more content to distribute it, I would veto messing with it. A big help would be to do these simple things:

    - 0 xp for foundry. Mob kill xp yes, but nothing more.
    - low xp for pvp. I am thinking make player kills give a small amount like mobs, and no xp reward for the game.
    - no xp from prayer. I have leveled most of my alts from 30 to 31 or 32 off just praying and crafting.
    - no xp for crafting. Instead provide more money, diamonds, and assets perhaps. Or throw in the towel and remove leadership in favor of weaponsmithing and have nodes/chests drop assets (rarely).
    - no xp for daily completion

    and so on.

BTW 50-60 too me about as long as 1-50. The mobs become much tougher and by level 50 if you do not have blue+ gear it actually is challenging and slower. Even at 60 with AH purple stuff the mindflayer area is slow going for me solo; every fight costs me 1/2 a health bar.

Well you must be magical then, because that is impossible.

That one level should take you a couple million XP to make. Grinding it in one hour is just the point I am trying o make. Its way to easy.

There are plenty of korean grinders in the market. Go search for your favourite and play it.
Besides, what makes you think this game's gonna become one just because you want it to?

Let's get real boys... you must be new to MMOs because otherwise I would not be seeing so many demmands on these forums. In my 11 years of experience in MMOs i'm certain that 99% of those demmands are being systematically ignored while the other 1% are being regarded as bugs or exploits that must get fixed, which doesen't mean they will get fixed, not even in a near or far future.
Only half of the serious bug/exploit reports are being taken seriously but your childish demmands... welll i'm not gonna repeat myself.

So wake up already, don't make fools of yourselves.

Really you are complaining about the first 10 levels taking you "only" 4 hours to complete...Most Korean grinders I know usually take an hour or two for the first ten levels(like Aion). Granted this game continues to level you at that speed, where most other games slow down rapidly. But my point is you can't base an argument on the first portion of the leveling process.

The only thing that matters is endgame so leveling being easy is irrelevant. There are games where leveling is the game if you want to go play that.

i can't understand why people want to level slower.
considering the fact, that mmos begin at max level, i'd rather level faster than slower.

Guild wars is amazing where you can just go PvP at max level without having to lvl any character.
Probably still my favorite PvP MMO as of today.

I find it interesting how many people conflate difficulty with time.

Making the levels take twice as long would not make this game any harder. All it would do it waste twice as much time.
This is what you get with an experience and level based game.

Gaining a level is a tangible reward for time spent. Make that reward take too much time, and the reward loses its excitement. Some people have more tolerance for that than others, some less - neither state makes the person a better or worse player.

This happens even in the Pencil and Paper game. The reason this happens is because the designers have a certain thing in mind that the players are the heroes, and the less we see of powerful NPCs the better. This was the reason for the 100 year time jump in the Forgotten Realms and the death of Mystra - very neatly got rid of a slew of supposedly very powerful NPCs.

I happen to be one of those players/DMs who disagreed with the idea that the mere presence of powerful NPCs in the setting make the PCs less stars in their own show. Thus the events that lead up to the spellplague have not happened in my Realms, and all those NPCs are still alive. Further, many NPCs whose levels did not reflect either their age or their position have had an upwards bump in my Realms - I mean, seriously, the head of the War Wizards in Cormyr (pre-4e) was only an 11th level sorcerer (actually Caladnei was an 11/4 sorcerer/fighter)? Come on! I don't care HOW many magical items are stashed around Cormyr, 11th level is just not good enough with the likes of Manshoon and Szass Tam running around, let alone treasonous War Wizards, Shades, Dragons, Zhentil Keep, and the list goes on.

I'm interested in which canon NPCs you're referring to, surely we can do without Drizzt and Jarlaxle? The former always seems to make cameos in FR based games. Anyway, I personally don't find either all that interesting.

Stepping back to the original point. I do feel I am leveling too fast and missing content. It is a difficult balance but I enjoy the journey more then the end game so I want to be able to do all the quests as well as foundry quest. When you add the very large amount of exp praying gives you it gets out of hand. Makes it hard to stay in sync with your friends as well.

A suggestion: perhaps a slider in preferences that adjusts you leveling rate? nothing extreme (possible exploits ) but maybe plus and minus 30% experience gain rate. That way everybody can be happy.

    Cheers,
    Ron

So you want to kill 2000 monsters to get 0.01% of experience? And when you die you lose 10%.

Too bad the pve blows. Hit max quickly, you can go back to old zones, but you will be leveled down, but the rewards aren't useful at all anymore, so why bother except to just have it all clear. Not to mention the horrid platforming, floaty lagging controls don't help there. Kind of worried that foundry will be the same here, useless rewards once you hit cap, even though the quests can be fun.

Long leveling can be fun, if the only thing that matters isn't end game, like it is in almost all mmos now. If you could get gear on the way to cap that is actually useful at cap, and not instantly replaced, but as it is now, the leveling gear could only be used as cosmetic. I've never minded making alts, but some games make it clear that only end game matters (how many release new early or mid game content often or ever? DDO is the only one i can think of other than when WoW redid the whole world, but that was once over close to a decade).

I hate the adventure to level 60. if i could purchase premade Lv60 characters I would. I don't care about the quest, I don't care about the story, I don't care about anything except raids (well elite dungeons too but with all the adds that bosses spawn and the trash to clear, it's getting old pretty quick).

If i could pay for convenience that would allow me to skip all the 1-59 stuff to get myself a Lv60; I'd do it.
