I give five stars for missions with no glaring flaws that are creative and engaging.
Four stars if the mission has some problems but otherwise fun, or well-done but a little dull.
Three stars with more problems or kinda dull.
Two stars if very flawed but the author was at least trying.
One star for little to no redeeming features.
My one mission has gotten all sorts of reviews:
1 star: sucks when drunk (this is my favorite)
'Great mission, really enjoyed it' 3 stars. (????)
'Bad quest flow'
'Adventure flowed well'
But it seems to be holding at four stars, which I think is about what it deserves. So hey.
I was worried that bad reviews might drop missions prematurely out of listings and prevent them from being seen and played. But search and display is so colossally broken at this point that it doesn't really matter -- visibility is way more likely to be based on forum stuf anyway.
Campaign: The Fenwick Cycle NWS-DKR9GB7KH
Wicks and Things: NW-DI4FMZRR4 : The Fenwick merchant family has lost a caravan! Can you help?
Beggar's Hollow: NW-DR6YG4J2L : Someone, or something, has stolen away many of the Fenwicks' children! Can you find out what happened to them?
Into the Fen Wood: NW-DL89DRG7B : Enter the heart of the forest. Can you discover the secret of the Fen Wood?
Unfortunately I think I may be too forgiving with my ratings as well, as I unconsciously view the stars like grades.
5 stars being an A. Good or Great.
4 stars being a B, pretty decent.
3 stars being a C, eh could've been better.
And anything under than being pretty fail, so I end up only giving out 4-5's based on the few foundries I have played (which were good or had a ton of effort put into them).
For starters: ignore the ratings. Stars are a bad idea, actually. Words would be better. Most people don;t think of 3 stars as being *"average"* and the other other two above being "really good" and "exceptional" respectively and the lower two being "has promise" and "needs work" respectively.
That's how I view them.
Indeed. Individually stars are meaningless, but collectively it's one of the few viable ways to determine a ranking, and thus determine how much exposure a quest gets from being higher up the page. Thing is, there's barely any room to say anything beyond a sentence in the review box.

I don't know about others, but I'm willing to cut some slack on star reviews when a quest is still in design.
I have had other people review my quest, tip me, enjoy the adventure and leave me 3 stars. If they provide excellent feedback, I think its worthwhile however.
