Coming from Eq I had an idea wanted to get some community feedback, There is a create Channel function might come in handy for clearing up some of the Zone channels for in Zone chat.
It would take a little while to get the majority of the server on board(in eq we just informed peeps ingame with zone chat)
It would be nice to have separate channels.
could set up a trade channel and class channels.
....................What say you....................

We KNOW there's a Create Channel function, and a few - only a very few - people are already using them. No-one else wants to. Why? The main chat traffic is in the standard chat channel, meaning a much wider audience, so that's where people post their trades, LFG and Guild Recruitment. Hence the mind-numbing spam all over the place in protector's Enclave.
As for Cryptic mking "official" channels for Trade, LFG, etc., well, so far that hasn't worked out so well in any other mmorpg, and Neverwinter will be no exception. The best of the poor alternatives up to now is to keep letting the community /report offenders, thus keeping them silenced.
One idea might be to have seperate /report functions for LFG, Trade and Guild Recruitment postings in General Chat, where a sufficient number of reports would automatically send the offender to the official channels (should Cryptic ever create any) while at the same time giving them the 24-hour mute in General Chat.

Yup, there are a few custom channels out there, but it is hard to herd a playerbase into using anything that is not system-default.

Chat channels are cross-shard (and cross-game) but trading is not. I think it would be best to wait until they merge the shards.
