Guardian Fighter - Tactician Tree?

Seems like all the GF builds use either Conqueror or Protector. Makes me wonder if anybody is using the Tactician tree for anything. Or is it too weird and situational, what with the capstone that assumes you're not actually using your shield and all of that?

I've been playing full tactician at the exception of 5 points into conqueror for 2 weeks, since i wanted something different than conqueror and protector is not really working well. I don't know what is your question actually, but i can share a bit a knowledge in game @dartakx. I've done easily all T1, but i haven't been in T2 yet, since i don't play often and i'm waiting for few friends while levelling a cleric with them. Since, i hope some change will happens soon on GF i will not respec.

Mostly i can safely assume conqueror is the better tree available, tactician brings a different gameplay but is lacking a bit. Is it viable, in T1 yes, in T2 i'm not sure.

    What i like:

-Into the fray buff, i love the skill, it really help the extra 5% / +AP generation and speed up instance. I think it's really good for everyone and they all notice they have their daily up way more faster. It's hard to value the impact of this skill on a party.

-The capstone is really not that bad, i'd say it's very good actually. Let say a strike you block give you 20% of your AP meter, taking it instead might give 10-15% of your bar, so the build is viable on trash, when you don't need to block. My perception is you gain a little above half of what you get by holding block in AP. But, considering the into the fray buff, the ap generation is increased by a noticeable amount. Furthermore, the damage you receive from knight valor (bugged cd :( unfortunately ) is generating AP too, at increased rate! So i can use my dailies at each 10-15 sec.

-Another thing that is improve from your capstone since you will try to take damage more often is Supremacy steel, that daily works really well it's almost always up in fight, redirecting dmg and in a certain way acting as your threat builder. I use into the fray, supremacy of steel, charge, enforced threat, cleaving 3-5 hits, trigger supremacy of steel additional damage, into the fray, another encounter or enforce threat again, Daily is up. Rince, repeat.

    - Lunging Strike feat buff works well, providing me with an interrupt and a bonus threat i was lacking because of lower DPS.

    - the 10% damage reduction from tide of iron is enough to tank mob that hit harder in T1, not tested in T2. I barely block unless i'm a bit low in hp and my encounter are in CD, i focus to block only spells and big hit.

    Cons:

    - Damage is better than protector, even considering you will slot at least 1 non-damaging encounter (into the fray). But you are nowhere close the conqueror tree damage.

    - Keeping threat is not that hard, but it's very challenging, i use enforce threat / lunging strike (with inc. threat) / damage from Supremacy of steel mostly and since i dont guard a lot, i can't really keep the mark up unless my party is doing good at dropping them fast / using crowd control. Hence why, i feel the harder is the content, probably the harder it will be for a tactician build. I don't have a lot of recovery too, GS at 8k and something.

    Power i'm using:

    At-wills:

Cleave / threatening rush for trash.

Cleave (or Crushing Surge very rarely) / tide of iron on boss.

    Encounter:

    Into the Fray, enforced threat,

    third one is either

lunging strike, frontline surge, knight valor... i,m not really fixed, i keep looking for an other power.

    Passives:

    combat superiority (no brainer)

improved mark (for threat since i cant keep it easily without it, mostly the single target threat.)

    Daily:

    Supremacy of Steel

Vilain menace (be aware you don't gain the movement speed buff from into the fray while using it, bug). I haven't ranked up Fighter recovery, i think it could help, need testing.

    Paragon feats:

    Fight on 5/5
    Daunting challenge 5/5
    Inspiring leader 5/5
    Powerful strike 5/5
    Surging tide 5/5
    Martial Mastery 1/1

    Improved Vigor 5/5

I'm pretty sure it could be tweak, but i don't really want to put the time at the moment, i don't really play it lately, but it's fun to play in group and your party member efficiency is increased by few smalls buffs but added together it's really noticeable.
