Best runes for cat?

I admit up front I don't fully understand exactly how runes work on the cat. Can somebody please explain what is the best way to rune your cat. Barring that, just tell me what the best way is and I'll try to figure out why later :).

    The cat is made to enhance what you need, so if you think you need more power then put runes for power. I personally use arcane for recovery and eldritch for % stats on the defense slot.

    and 2x Rank 7 for 185 recovery
