I saw the Red Wizard in the room, so I stood out next to the door way, and fired my magic missles at him. Then he and his buddies came into the hall to fight, and I defeated the Wizard and his buddies, but the mission didn't realize I defeated him.

This video shows that I have cleard out the area, and the quest didn't finish for some reason.
