I started with AD&D in 1988. My first character was a half-elf cleric. I still have his sheet to this day.

A human Magic-User with 1 (in words: one) HP.

After half the eveneing I was playing a half-elven Fighter/Magic-User. Who made it to Level 7/7, then perma-died of a combination of idiocy, bad die rolls, and lack of dexterity (No recovering/resurrecting a char that fell into an active volcano...)

My first was Aulduron, an elven cleric in 1E AD&D, even though that combination wasn't allowed by the rules at the time.

My first was a two-handed weapon-wielding human Paladin. I could run into combat and strike most things down, with a little bit of heals for good measure.

Thus, I'm keen to find out what the Oathbound Paladin will be like.

My memory of my first D&D character is a little fuzzy. I vaguely remember either a fighter or thief that specialized in using darts as weapons. I think I dabbled in poisons a bit, too. I remember going through the PHB and buying all my supplies... a tent, some stakes, tinderbox, etc. Boy, my character sure went through a lot of chalk marking the way back out of dungeons, hehe.

My very first character was a D&D basic (classic - 1981 revision) cleric that got snogged to death by a very pretty wraith.

My very 1st D&D character was Thug, an Orc Fighter who later got remade with the Pit Fighter Kit. Basically a big green wall of meat who liked jerky and adventuring. This of course was AD&D 2nd Edition.

Beren, human cleric, September 1, 1980. Basic-game D&D, when 1st level clerics didn't get spells.

The first proper one was probably 3.5e Trofim Kabakian, the barefoot wizard. (A peasant cleric of madness and weather, deriving his power from his steadfast belief that he is a wizard, and that "lie-wizards" and their fancy schools are just keeping true magic out of the hands of the people).

A human kensai. The DM was so brutal, I got permanent reductions in all stats and couldn't even reroll a new character since my old one was still alive (even as a vegetable). =/

Cener Thenbrur, a Human Wizard, daughter of a Red Wizard of Thay (she was made right after the release of Forgotten Realms Campaign setting for the 3.0 edition in 2001) and who my in-game CW is partially based of. :')

My fighter named Grog - 42+years ago. Human, because Dwarves could only go to level 6 and Hobbits and Elves could only go to level 4 Fighters. Also elves could NOT be resurrected. Elves also could not go above level 8 Magic User.

Petal Throne wasn't D&D, but M.A.R. Barker came up with a great concept.

It was a dwarven cleric, super tanky and with weapons of course as it was the good old fashion way back according to the rules 21 years ago.

I still miss those real battle clerics, not like these vega clerics of today, no muscle. LOL

It was a very special thing for me, cause many of my friends around me played DnD and i was a bit frustrated, that they kinda left me alone and went to early to bed, instead of playing snooker or going out to cinema, they wanted to stay fit for a long session of DnD party next day.

I was not invited, cause here were i live clubs rarely exist or existed and only place to play is at somebodies home and the guy who provided his home for this purpose wasn't my friend yet at that time. We lived in and old house then, which wasn't made for expecting guests for late night, all rooms were connected by only one door, so if i had friends my mom couldn't sleep. She is an angel, she let me invite anyone of my friends, but since the DnD group was huge, it was my decision not to invite to many people at once and besides, that time i couldn't really understand to huge hipe around DnD and i wasn't too curious to join them, my life was focused around sports that time.

Once a guy fell out of the group, i was invited to take his place and since that love at first site. I eat and sleep DnD, have many books, stuff on my PC and we still play it weekends.

When sometimes i sound a bit like an old grumpy guy, who just complains all day, it is only my dedication and love for the game and the genre, so be patient with me.

P.S: Found this picture on net, looks funny:)

    Winston Churchill

The human race is a herd. Here we are, unique, eternal aspects of consciousness with an infinity of potential, and we have allowed ourselves to become an unthinking, unquestioning blob of conformity and uniformity. A herd. Once we concede to the herd mentality, we can be controlled and directed by a tiny few. And we are.
