Game freezing

Can I please have some advice on how to prevent the game from freezing or at least a description of why it is freezing. No errors pop up, the game just locks up and I have to restart my pc.

Thanks in advance.

    This happens to me too, but only when I'm near the market in Protector's Enclave. All I can tell you is what I've been doing.

    1. In the launcher, I opened options and checked 'disable on demand patching'. This forces the game to patch before you start playing (it will no longer patch itself while you are in game) and seems to have made the biggest improvement.

    2. I went into game options and turned down some of the graphic options. I also turned off vertical sync (I think that's what it's called).

    3. I avoid the market area as much as possible, if I have to go to Protector's Enclave, I try to run around the outside edges of the map and avoid the middle as much as possible.

    4. If I'm forced to go anywhere near the market (to get mail for instance) I move very slowly, I take a few steps forward...stop, wait a bit, then repeat. If I see any other characters start to freeze around me, I stop instantly (sometimes this works, sometimes not).

    That's all I can offer you I'm afraid. The game will still freeze on me (but only in the market now) and it usually just crashes to desktop, I no longer have to ctrl>alt>del.

    Hope that's helpful.

    Do you have a AMD processor with a ATI Radeon video card? Instead of an Intel processor with a nVidia video card?

    AMD + ATI Radeon = cheaper quality, you pay less, but most game developers do not build their engines using AMD and Radeon parts, so the chances of game instability and glitches are a lot higher than if you spent more money for an Intel processor with nVidia video card, which are the hardware of choice for most, if not all, game developers.

    Intel processor + nVidia = You pay more, but you know you will never have problems with any games. If you do encounter a problem, then nVidia will quickly release new drivers to fix it.

    I do have an Intel processor and an nVidia card. But my PC is a couple of years old.

    My specs (if it's of any use)

    CPU = Intel Quad Core i7 950 3.05GHZ
    Motherboard = Gygabyte GA-p55A-UD3
    Video Card = EVGA GeForce GTX 460
    RAM = G.Skill 4GB
    Operating System = Windows 7 professional (32-bit)

    I'm also playing from Australia and my ping is about 350, so that probably has a lot to do with it too.

    sorry but what?? nvidia+intel are the cheaper one not the other way around sure amd is usually cheaper in price but they are quality parts nvidia has always been plagued with bugs in their firmware i would not touch one it has nothing to do with this issue though its how the game handles many textures really it doesnt handle them well at all and in protectors theres usually many spider mounts which are the highest res textures in the game so instant lag
