Direwolf companion - useful?

I ask because as a new player that has not spent much zen my characters are all broke - but as an altmaniac I will be running every class in the game so a package that gives a companion for each character caught my eye.

My first four all have regular companions with the level 15 cap which makes them pretty useless at high levels - I know there are very good (and expensive) companions like the cat but I won't have enough AD for that for a while. Can the direwolf go to top companion level. Is it a decent upgrade over the level15-capped ones to keep me going for a few months as I craft my way to having a modicum of AD?

Thanks (feel free to tell me the package is overpriced and not worth getting if you feel the need but that isn't really the question).

Yeah , I have the panther and he is fine for leveling up . At so for tier dungeons you will want a no damage pet like the cat or ion stone . But yeah that 60 dollar pack looks good to me . I keep thinking about buying it . The spider is annoying and I want a horse .

Stormraider Clydesdale (Sword Coast Raiding Horse) > Guardian horse.

    Just saying. :)

That pack would also give you 600k AD, which is two thirds of what the cat costs. :p. The dire wolf is a really neat pet and I use him for solo stuff on various of my characters as well (and a cat for dungeons). He pushes mobs off and interrupts them, and later also knocks them prone. Damage is good as well. Compared to the panther it seems to have a faster reaction time also.

I have both the wolf and the cat, as well as the one white companion that you get from the quest at level 15/16. Of the three, the dire wolf is my favorite.

I only use the Dire Wolf on my Cleric as on all the other classes I prefer the gold savings from reduced pots cost when I use the Cleric companion. Yes, she does die easily but she will usually get a heal off in combat, and at least acts as a short term distraction......

I never liked the D&D version of Dire Wolf, they have always used the Nordic Fenrir that has the spikes, I have always preferred the Celtic version which is what you see in Game of Thrones, but the NW Dire is very useful for a Cleric or a CW.

And over half a million AD and some more trivial throw-ins. $60 is the cost of a good game (and one month play time) under the subscription model - may that model rest in peace I much preferred it but life moves on.

Thank for the replies I've been undecided but may actually get the package. The $200 package - no thanks I figure too much of the cost is for the "prestige" and I'm after things that will help me play.

If you're playing a DC or CW, the dire wolf is great just for the constant knockbacks. He's really good at interrupting enemy attacks. (And he can level to 30, which means he survives a lot longer than the NPC tank my DC used up to level 35 or so.)
