Features:
(I've added some screenshots in a reply below)
tl;dr version:
A quest to save and rebuild The Village.
A map that changes with your actions.
A map with optional things to do.
A basic crafting system.
(A day night cycle?)
Medium version:
In The Village I try to introduce an interactive map with a rebuildable village; do you claim your reward leaving The Village partly in ruins or do you rebuild all of it with Upgraded Guards, a new well and repaired walls? It’s up to you because I've tried to make much of it optional.
Silver Scroll Quest that let’s you improve the area, upgrade guards or offer small adventures - again optional.
A detailed map build from scratch with 1500 hand placed items where many 100’s of them are scripted into player involved interaction. Please report any odd behaviour
A map with changing music and atmosphere and sounds scripted into most events ... which unfortunately doesn’t work atm due to the foundry bug. I can't seem to fix the hammering emote on minerals either - sometimes it just doesn't work.
All this gives the player different ways to complete the map and lets you choose how long you want to play the quest - it also lets you adjust the difficulty to a large degree.
Block of text version:
Now please remember this all takes place in just one small map - there’s no zoning at all - so there is a limit to how far I can stretch the complexity without zoning to a new map.
Before I undertake the huge task of multiple maps with so much item scripting and rebuilding I want to know if people like the general idea of the concept; if it’s enjoyable.
Furthermore I haven’t submitted this quest to Cryptic yet and even though the few who tried the quest were positive it needs a lot more tweaking and tuning in the hopes that it will be fun for both solo and group play. I also want it to be viable to play for your daily foundry quest (min 15 min) and still be deep enough to play for a long time if you wish to explore and rebuild it all.
Hope I’ve peaked your interest.
Quest: The Village
Quest ID: NW-DC99JCLA2
Another tl;dr:
(Beta version - not submitted to cryptic yet)
Maps: 1 - no zoning at all.
Maptype: A small detailed outdoor map with a day-night cycle.
Questtype: Rebuilding, Exploring, Crafting, Fighting!
Playtime: Will vary due to the many optional quests.
Difficulty: Will vary depending on your actions.
Final note: Feel free to discuss or ask about anything foundry related in connection with the map and, of course, feel free to comment on the quest itself. Any comment is of great value as there are many areas where I have no experience at all. I did build quite a few maps back in the Aurora toolset for Neverwinternights but other people were handling things like quests, dialog, heavy scripting etc.
So, to attach a single question too - can we share work on a campaign? (besides sending .txt files with dialog) Could I for example send a complete map for someone else to work with in the foundry for their own quest?
The Village: ID: NW-DC99JCLA2
A simple quest to change the fate of a small village.
A complex outdoor map that changes physically with your actions.
Interresting, always loved stuff like this, in Baldur's gate 2 depending on class you own something (i remember as a warrior that i got a keep), in neverwinter Nights 2 there are keep too if i remember well.
Good job
Try consider adding some attacking bands of orks or goblins after some cycles, at day or night, if you dont want to def alone maybe you make a possibility to hire a mercenarys at some NPC, something like that...

Thanks for the comments:
First, the sound bug is very annoying yes - the transitions from night/day, broken/repaired village etc. is much stronger when the music themes and ambient sounds changes too. They (Cryptic) said it's been high priority for some time now so we all hope for a fix soon.
@ksho - the main quest gives you access to hire some guards ... a bit weak at first, but with armor and weapons they fight back. Through optional quests you can hire much better guards and hire patrolling guards too.
There are a couple of attacks on the village itself - final one is rather large but encounters in general probably needs tuning incl attacks on The Village. I will only be able to do only minor changes though as I've used up my encounters for this map.
