I played and reviewed Act 1: The Abandoned Mine? and while it was technically sound, I found it very repetitive.

From the first part following Tommy, the muti-part trap, trapped hallways, to the room with the ogre popping out of a door behind my character all was well done and varied.

However it quickly then turns into just approach NPC monster, talk to them, fight predictable ambush, rinse and repeat. This is the formula, without variation, for Krush, Orc Trapper, Orcsha, and Capn' Pinkeye. Just Monster NPC surrounded by a group of cronies all of whom you know are going to attack, so the need to have a conversation each time makes it seem like our character is a dope for doing it because the outcome inevitable. This all transpires within the same small mine area which you backtrack through frequently, so even your surroundings lend to the feel of repetition.

Then once you leave the mines with Tommy, you enter a cave and the quest becomes even more repetitious as it boils down into; read a scroll, fight a mob pack, walk a few feet to a ladder, repeat, about 4-6 times. There was one room that was literally just 2 ladder portals spaced about 10 feet apart, all in the exact same looking type cave rooms. At one point I backtracked to make sure I was actually progressing through portals and they were working since it all looked the same I was worried I was glitching. But you go through about 6 of these portals with little variation, until you run into...talk to NPC surrounded by cronies and have an ambush, the same as before, and with Captain Pinkeye...from before.

Then it varies up a bit by having an explosion sequence, but makes you backtrack to get the explosives.

So my biggest recommendation for this quest would be to vary it up...alot. It ends up feeling like repetitive busywork for the latter 2/3rds, and by the end I was just happy for it to be over.

PS: on top of all the reasons above that this quest is repetitive, for whatever reason, by design there are no campfires in this quest, so if you die you get to reenter and repeat.

I gave it 3 stars for not having any technical errors or dialogue issues.
