Possible to connect rooms to inn?

I have an interior map with the "inn" room, and I have tried every which way to connect another room to it, but nothing works. Has anyone found a way, or is the inn not interconnectable?

I seem to recall that there is one spot that can be connected to other rooms, though I may be mistaken. It's in the spot where you'd expect the exit to be.

In A Hidden Blade, I quickly dismissed this room entirely and used the tavern room as a basis for my inn instead, building additional rooms manually.

The south end of the Inn piece will let you place hallways and such, use that, or go visit castle Tieanen to see what I did with that map piece, since there were no throne rooms haha.

Strange, I was able to connect the inn to the tavern in mine! You can check out the location in my map (see short code below). I didn't think that the location mattered. All I did was put them next to each other and drop a Door there from the Special tab and it auto connected.
