So a thread has been recently closed because the moderator decided that the direction of the thread, whilst interesting, had strayed from the initial post of the thread so far that it was a reason to close it.

The discussion being had was however helpful and informative and not against any rules.

So: If I open a new thread where the initial post is intended to pertain to and continue this line of discussion will it be allowed to remain?

Thanks in advance.

The moderation on these forums is, at times, completely random but I think you'll be fine.

Keep the thread constructive, civil, and respectful.
As I had said in the thread you are referring to those types of threads tend to inevitably result in petty disputes between posters more often than not. Try to do everything in your power to avoid that by keeping the tone unbiased simply stating the information you know.

More than likely it would be better suited for the Off Topic Forums rather than General Discussion.
    Post away :)

Thank you. I do try to keep to the information which I know. Which is why it's frustrating to be cut off when correcting mistakes others make.

FYI I'm not sure I have the time to make such a thread now. i just wanted to clarify that it was not that aspect of the discussion which was being closed down.

Thank you for that gem. having been the administrator for 5 years of still one of the largest gaming communities for the publisher and developer of the best-selling game I'm aware of moderation policy.

I was not questioning a decision nor was I disputing anything. i was seeking a clarification so that I'm not wasting mine nor the moderators time should I or others wish to continue a conversation being had in a thread which was locked for other reasons.

    It's just a courtesy.

I realize that and I've also seen plenty of threads like this get locked in other PW forums. None of that matters now since a mod already answered it here.

It was not. It was closed for a number of small reasons which added up completely unrelated to the chargeback issue.

More-over it was for the tone of the opening post and the title. I originally only posted to correct the claim about the banning for "requesting" a refund.

However, I do encourage you to look up "Friendly Fraud Chargebacks" and the policies companies enact when they have chargebacks issued before you contact support or after support has denied your refund. Requesting a chargeback without contacting the company or by going over the companies Terms of Service is not taken kindly by any company.

So don't make PWE out to be the bad guys. They're not. It's basically universal for online trades that if you chargeback you will lose the privilege to purchase further products or your rights to previous support from that company. Do the proper research before making claims of the contrary please. :)
