Hi everyone, I'm new to the Foundry and learning as I go. It's very addictive!
I wonder if anyone can help me: I'm using the extra large divide outdoor map (the one with a covered bridge across a chasm) and I want to place an NPC on the inside of the covered bridge. I seem to be able to get him to stand on the roof or disappear altogether (presumably plummeting into the river below) but I can't figure out how to get him where I want him to be. I figure this maybe has something to do with the Y values, but tinkering with those doesn't seem to have helped.
I had a similar problem earlier trying to place NPCs on top of the walls of a fort - I just couldn't seem to get them in the right place.
I've read somewhere that due to the order in which items spawn when loading the map, NPCs actually fall *through* objects. I've seen people use this as a trick to get NPCs inside of cages and other such things.

I like to go in the map and place a barrel where I want my NPC. Go back to the editor, compare values and place the NPC with those values. Always place the NPC a little higher, they will "drop" into place.
Thanks, those are some helpful suggestions. I also learned that the /locvec command in chat can tell you your own coordinates, which is a helpful marker.
But still, for some reason, my NPC is intent on standing on the roof, at least 10 feet higher than I ask him to. Weird.

Be sure you're using zero altitude instead of terrain for the y relative to:
I manipulated my Y values in an experimental quest so the the character arrives on the map, he does so by spawning on a boat to show he arrived at his location that way.
*sings* "I like Gammera! He's so neat!!! He is full of turtle meat!!!"
"Hah! You are doomed! You're only armed with that pathetic excuse for a musical instrument!!!" *the Savage Beast moments before Lonnehart the Bard used music to soothe him... then beat him to death with his Fat Lute*
I set up 3 cages 18, 20, and 22 feet off the ground with NPCs trapped in them. I had to actually box the NPC into the cage with invisible walls on all four sides of the cage, below the cage, and above the cage to get the NPC to be inside the cage. They would either stand on the cage, next to the cage, or on the floor depending on what invisible wall i had where. Hope that helps someone trying to do the same thing. Now if only i had wires to suspend the cage.....
