Downtime with no ETA is downright insulting

I'm mad about the fact that the last exploit practically made my founders pack useless and my total of $80+ feels like a scam but that's not what this post is about. I understand they need to "fix" this issue (trolling a bit after reading their "solution") but anyways to have a server downtime with no ETA whatsoever is just not done...

I've read a thread about the use of Twitter by D&D and so I checked and it's just causing itches all over my body indeed. I mean it looks more like a tea-party between a couple of middle ages women who are completely oblivious about the fact that their community is in revolt. Some of us are dedicated players over 21 who have jobs and invested their money AKA time (no money from mommy $ daddy) to come home to a game they want and paid to play, having custom downtime is more than acceptable and completely understandable but the current downtime and way of communicating about it is downright INSULTING to the huge numbers of players who at the end of the day don't really care that much about other players or jealousy but just want to play some hours to get their mind of things. Its been over 12 hours with no REAL explanation and at this point I just feel played...

The servers are up. Also, they did provide an ETA, it was just a number that they likely pulled out of nowhere because I don't know how anyone could expect them to be able to predict a realistic ETA given the situation. Furthermore, this is a beta, and it's kind of cute that you wanted to insult supposed entitled kids when you're complaining about your game, that is in open beta, being down for a day.

read much? and don't tell me they they gave an ETA and at the same time it's pulled out of their asses because it's impossible to announce it's going to be between x & x hours because that's some backward logic to me...

The E in ETA stands for estimated, not exact. As staded above, when something like tis happens the best ting they can do is give us an educated guess. At least they are communicating. I've been playing mmorpg's since Asherons Call and there have been much worse releases (Anarchy Online for example was basicly unplayable on release, and in those days you had to buy te game only to find out you could not play it for days).

When a specific time isn't know, an ETA is the best anyone can do.

For normal downtimes, yes. But since this was an "emergency takedown" they probably hadn't any idea whatsoever when they would bring the servers back up, so it's understandable to have this kind of downtimes without an eta. Mind you, I'm not trying to say they didn't completely mess up with the bug in the first place, just that not having an eta seems understandable.

    Hey All,

Totally agree. We did our best to obtain an ETA during the downtime, but due to the complexity of the issues we were troubleshooting and testing, we never made it to a point where we knew how much longer it would take, until we had reached our destination.

We'll do our best to always keep everyone in the loop, and do apologize to anyone who had a negative experience as a result of not having an estimated uptime during today's outage.
