Cryptic application trying to gain access to the internet

At the risk of making myself sound dumb, I admit to not being a computer genius, so I don't know if I'm just missing something, but last night, a cryptic game app tried to access the internet twice, my firewall stopped it. This has never happened to me before, since downloading Neverwinter and I've had it since closed beta. Has anyone else had this happen lately? Is this normal? I guess I could have missed something in the ToS. It's just weird that its just suddenly started happening now.
