My desktop shortcut / patcher disappeared.

So.. this morning I decided to try and login to see if it would stop crashing when I selected my level 60 character, but when I used my desktop shortcut it said a file was inaccessible and couldn't be modified or something. So I clicked the only option (ok) and tried again. The second time the shortcut is making me browse for files because it cannot be found after asking me if I want to delete the shortcut because now it leads to nothing.
I went to where I saved the files when I downloaded/installed and all I can access is the actual client. No window comes up asking me to login and then check for patches, it's just the game window that would come up afterwards. When I login to that it says connecting to server and never actually does anything, then just goes back to where I would put my info.
This is probably annoyingly the second or third day I have been unable to play at all after finally achieving level 60, so any help would be appreciated.
