Ioun stone power stat bugged?

So I got the ioun stone the other day and gave it some power runestones/gear. Maybe this is a dumb question but I'm wondering if the power gain is actually working. On my stat sheet my power does go up the amount I expected it to but my attack stat doesn't go up and I don't seem to really hit harder. Can anyone help me with this not sure if I just don't understand the power gain or its bugged and not actually giving the power it should to modify the attack stat. If it makes any difference I'm a control wizard.
