Zen points - worth buying? What to buy with?

As the title says, i'm kinda wondering if it's worth buying anything.

I think the cosmetic stuff/mounts/companions are stuff you could get if you like em and when you're gonna play the game for a long while.

The lockboxes, are they worth opening? How big is the chance of getting anything? I heard you can trade the keys, how much do they cost?

The game stuff like more char slots/more companion slots/bags/ skill resets/... is as just a bunch of stuff you can get when you need it, just to make us pay money

and lastly we have the in-game stuffs, like pots and buffs and such, which henstly don't seem to huge to me..

Whats your opninion? Is it worth buying zen or not? Is it worth buying keys for those lockboxes?

Totally worth buying. I got the Bear, the little Rock dude, a bunch of Keys. I mean don;t be stupid about it. Here is how I look at it.

Back in my day you got about 2 Hours worth of Video Games at the Arcade for $20.00 bucks.

On my XBOX I spend $60.00 bucks and depending on the game I usually get about 8 hours of entertainment.

I have gotten like 3 weeks of entertainment out of this so had no problem throwing $50.00 bucks at it.

Keys go for 125 zen each, or 1125 for 10. Not sure what currency you go with but I'm sure you can figure out $ costs from that. As far as worth opening, if you don't mind spending the cash they're useful enough. Likely take from 10 boxes will be something like 5 idols (40k AD's each off Rhix, so you'll get about half the cost of your zen back in AD's at current rates on the exchange), 2 profession packs (nice if you like to craft, fairly likely to get an Adventurer and some rare mats), and some other random stuff plus between 10 and 20 tarmalune bars for each box. Always a chance to get a pheora or even a nightmare mount if you're lucky too, but don't count on it.

Extra character slots aren't too bad at 500 zen for 2, keeping in mind thats more storage space and leadership crafting (for AD's or to feed mercs to your main to upgrade), or god forbid, to actually play some different classes and get a feel for what they're like :D

Bags are a nice convenience, and remember that they're not character bound - you can freely switch it to whoever your main is so you won't really need to buy them for each character, just mail it to yourself when you want to muck around with an alt.

Skill resets - I'd hold off until some serious bug fixing is done on feats and powers that don't quite combine like they're supposed to. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if a one-time free respec was given when the game goes "officially" live though, or after the first round of major bugfixing and balancing.

I'd say its worth spending a few dollars if you enjoy the game and plan to play it for a while. Mostly it'll be for convenience, but that's no bad thing. I got the Guardian pack so didn't really need to spend much, but I did pick up 2 bags (I'm a total packrat), some extra character slots and a few keys just for curiosity, and I don't regret doing so

At this stage in development I wouldnt recommend anyone spend real money on the game, not until they resolve the issues with Account support, Recovering AD/Items lost in the email without resorting to telling you they lost your email and the issue is resolved. Anything you PURCHASE can disappear and you have just lost money......just my opinion...its not ready for more real cash yet.
If your hand touches metal, I swear by my pretty floral bonnet I will end you.

Use a dose of common sense here. $5 bucks for bank space or a bag at level 60? Probably worth it. $5 for another character slot once the new classes are released? Worth it if you play many characters. $50 for a pet that is exactly like the $2 pet? Not worth it. $125 in keys to get 1000 rank 5 enchantments and some crafting junk?? Not worth it.

Just evaluate what you want to buy, and how much it is worth to your gameplay. Cosmetics (including fancy mounts and pets that are exactly like the cheap/free versions of the same) for hundreds of dollars is not worth it if you are on a budget.

Not worth buying, unless you enjoy overpaying and encouraging game publishers to keep ripping you off.

    Or you can afford them.

Easily afford them, still refuse to be ripped off. Next?

If you like playing a bunch of characters (are you an altaholic? :D), a mount is a good buy. Because every character you make can claim it. This can save you a good bit of gold.... which isn't actually as worthless as people originally thought, if you do high-end dungeons at 60. Or if you don't, the people that do have started selling good stuff for gold, to fuel their need for potions & injury kits.

How exactly have you been or do you feel you will or are being ripped off? Sorry, I am confused. If you want a Bear and can afford it how is buying that Bear a rip off?

If you do not think it's worth the money and do not want to buy it. I completely understand. I am just confused as to where the "Ripping off" is occurring?

    Thanks for the replies guys!

I'm probably gonna get 2k zen now, and get 10 keys. I don't think the bags are very good, since i found one already and that one has 18 slots, a paid one has only 24...

I'm probably not gonna get a mount yet, i want to see if they actually are the coolest mounts before i get one of them. If they do end up being worth it i'll prolly get just enough zen to buy one of them.
And if not, i guess i can get something like a skill reset or new char slots!

Just for reference, there's only one more bag you'll find. It's around level 30, and it's 12 slots.

Heh, I didn't even get a "cool" horse. I just spent $5 on a basic horse.... but it's still saved me 30g so far across six characters. :D
(and again, further info - at level 20, when you can use a mount, you also get 3 "rental" tokens that'll get you a basic horse for 5 hours each. So you don't need to make a "buy" decision right away.)

You get another bag at the end of Neverdeath Graveyard IIRC

I buy profession packs and keys for the lockboxes:even if you don't get the mount, the crappiest thing is still worth the cost of the key (and you get a lot of rare assets/mats for crafting and a chance at an Idol that you can turn in for 40K Astral Diamond)

Don't forget you can also get most of these things in the AH for AD, even the mounts/companions

Ah, TOTAL skill resets (STATS,Powers,Feats) is 600 zen but you can reset your Feats for AD
