The 3 server locations?

Is there a thread anywhere that I might have missed showing where the 3 servers are located? Im wondering if theyre all in the US? Or theres a European one?

Reason I ask is, i live in the UK and ive played on Mindflayer and for the most part it seems pretty smooth, but i recently rolled a character on Dragon to group up with a friend, and its lagging as hell for me :(

Cheers guys.

It's only one server, it's three 'shards' but the same superserver.

It's in California.

LOL & *facepalm*

What the guy above me said, and also, from the FAQ:
(...) we have decided to launch Neverwinter with three shards, to reduce the risk of players having a negative experience due to servers overloading (...)

Are you sure they are east coast. Cause I did an IP lookup and everything I have seen on various lookups all point to California

Also their server maintenance is always PST, which would be weird to use if they were in Boston in the east. I would guess NorCal, SoCal, and "somewhere in the middle" Cal. :p

Cryptic, as an entity, is based in California. Hence, They are in California.

There is only one server. That's self-explanatory.

Pretty sure anyone with half a brain understood what I said by the context, but I shouldn't assume the average forum-goer has an IQ over 50. You obviously prove that assumption is false.

maybe if I add : lololololol, it will help you understand...

Mind Flayer is smoothest because it was last to go live, which means it has the fewest players on it.

How is typing "cryptic" in wikipedia (lol, wikipedia) going to tell me that the 3 Neverwinter shards are in fact one 'superserver'?

Edit: and by '/owned' you are referring to you being owned, yes? Okay, just making sure. :)

Edit: also, even if wikipedia could tell me this, why would I take wikipedia's information over the official FAQ right here? ;)

The company and registration info is definitely CA, but they sure look east coast to me based on traceroute and ping data. I'm in Boston, and I seriously doubt I'd be getting such low ping times to servers in CA. The hop right before the server is bsn.pnap.net (pretty sure bsn = boston).

Tracing route to 208.95.186.15 over a maximum of 30 hops

...

9 perfectworldent-4.border11.bsn.pnap.net [216.52.61.78]
10 208.95.186.15

Pinging 208.95.186.15 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 208.95.186.15: bytes=32 time=12ms TTL=252
Reply from 208.95.186.15: bytes=32 time=9ms TTL=252

Reply from 208.95.186.15: bytes=32 time=9ms TTL=252

Ping statistics for 208.95.186.15:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 5ms, Maximum = 12ms, Average = 8ms

Going to agree with part of this. Went to Wiki and typed in cryptic and guess what. Nothing about super server. On the Extended FAQ they talk about them planning on the future to be merging to a super server.

How about you read the thread you quoted, and you will find your answer?

I said owned because the thread you pointed to disproves everything you said in this thread, and you call it your "reference". Also /owned because you are making yourself look like an idiot while trying to dispute commonly known facts.

Also "you're a tool" means "you are a tool".

You failed this thread in so, so many ways I can't even keep track. Maybe you should go back to LoL GD, people are even dumber there and they might not notice how stupid you are.

Indeed… my average ping is around 100ms from western Europe, which is absolutely impossible to west coast USA, even with my amazing connection.

Don't know where you get Boston or the east coast. Do an IP location lookup. I ran one again and this is what I get.

208.95.186.15 United States California Los Gatos Cryptic Studios Inc.

A whois on an IP won't tell you where the servers are. All it tells you is what the company registering the block put as their info.

A traceroute is a bit more revealing.

Edit: as several other people have also pointed out now, a traceroute reveals much more, and also, ping is very telling. Someone in the eastern US isn't going to get ~15ms ping to CA. Someone is western Europe isn't going to get ~100ms ping to CA. Not on residential connections, anyway.

That is just the route it takes from your computer to the server location and the final ip address does not say boston in it as I did a traceroute also

LOL. Are you just trying to make yourself look HAMSTER?

If Boston is the second to last hop or so, the destination isn't going to be CA. Plus, ping values disprove this too, as mentioned.

Dragon is normally fine. Well, 180ms from Europe. After maintenance today I get 280-350ms. Not sure what changed, but I hope it is just a load issue or something else that is temporary.
