My first Cryptic game, for sure. I understand their arichtecture and the reason behind it. I don't agree with it, though, and thought mayeb there would be some like-minded people. Unfortunately, all I got was people regurgitating information we all know already.
For what it's worth, STO (Star Trek Online, another Cryptic game) is a very fun game all the way to the very end where it turns into a grind fest of the worst kind. Great ride for Star Trek fans though, some terrific artistic assets in that game. It took years to turn into a decent game though.
Walking on the surface of DS9 in a spacesuit made me a very happy nerd.
All you did was regurgitate basic information we have all been privy to for over a year. You brought absolutely nothing to the table, therefore deserve no comment after this one.
And you brought what? A thought that you **** out this morning that you though Cryptic would be like " Oh hey this gold covered HAMSTER is better then what we have been doing for years. Lets change it up!"
K, didn't think all I would get is rejects who have been here for 2 days and think they have it all figured out....
I've been around the development of Neverwinter for longer than you guys have even known it existed. I knew the shards would be merged before you guys even knew there would be 3 shards. If you would read the OP, you would see that I am just suggesting they start something like, 3 new shards, on a new server!
It's not that difficult to comprehend, whats wrong with you people?
Listen you guys, he's been around the development longer than us so he knows things okay you guys? He's figured it all out, so better just get out of his way. We shouldn't be trying to educate the man in his own thread, it's HIS for crying out loud.

Wanted discussion, got troll.
Typical MMO forum experience, though.
Basically just trying to think of ways Cryptic could right the ship before it goes down. I'm a huge D&D fan, and I was really looking forward to NWO. Sadly, its pretty much done before I even had a chance to play.
A shiny snowflake who thinks everyone who disagrees with him is a troll.
Now that is the typical MMO forum experience.
"Participation in PVP-related activities is so low on an hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly basis that we could in fact just completely take it out of STO and it would not impact the overall number of people [who] log in to the game and play in any significant way." -Gozer, Cryptic PvP Dev
Dear op: I think you had an excellent idea and I dearly hope that cryptic/owe sees the first post on this forum as it would be nice to have a clean start after the exploitative nonsense ceases, which is why I'm posting here at all. I'd also like to say congratulations on posting a thread in which you offered constructive alternatives rather than hopelessly bashing whatever system is in place pertaining to whichever issues we are dealing with. It's nice to see some maturity.
That being said it is also clear the forum trolls have invaded just by viewing the first and most recent pages. You'll find the best way to deal with these individuals is to completely ignore their presence. If they have a message you can listen to it, but the majority of them are just here to mindlessly argue for the sake of arguing.

Im sorry but I just have to bite this...
You are so in the "inside" that your fail to realize that each super server is composed of hundreds of shards...?
So.."3 new shards" on "a new" sever... doesn't sound anywhere near the same math...
Btw guys I got braking news... I bet you have NeVer~ heard this before because I got inside know-it-all~ism. o.0

You seem to be pretty "set" in terms of setting up a separate server set (i.e. a whole group of servers) my question to you is WHY would PWE would want to invest in another server and split the population? PWE love their super server because it will keep all the players in one place so other issues like
- lack of players for instance running
- lack of items in AH (due to low pop)
- lack of raid
- lack of PvP
these issue usually solve by super servers. SWToR learn this late. STO does this and thriving. DCUO merge into a single regional server.
So why would PWE want to spend MORE money (where people said this game is doom and gloom) and setup a whole new set of servers?
While I understand your point on "well, they done it in the past doesn't mean the same in the future" that is true IF there is more money to be made.
Would the new set of servers make money? maybe for players who want to invest in zen ALL OVER (since it is server group specific. I can't transfer NWN zen to STO. Once it is in NWN, it stays in NWN) so players who may have spend hundreds of dollars on a set of server MAY not get anything on the new one.
What about HotN pack? Guardian? will that carry over to the new server?
One of the major issue of AD is that many players got 2mil AD from HotN and flood the market. What will prevent that from happening on the new set of servers?
Why are some people pretending the game is ruined? It really isn't at all. This is the beginning content.
..u mean the content that has been HAMSTER and pillaged before even leaving the so called beta... With nothing more coming out their sleeves during the so called release? I mean you can now buy T2 in the next 24 hours cheaper then then cheapest pvp gear. There is so much of it right now from exploits that people cant sell T1 ot T2. It wouldn't even matter who they are and what they did if the gear was BoP...
So..Aka you can get the best gear in game before even hitting 60... Thats of coarse if you don't already have 2-10 auto 60's.
I find it funny you guys dont know what this is going to do to the population, health of the game and longevity of the content...
Of coarse the 2 tier sets that do sell for millions are the ones that are being used...o wait they will censor that.
lol you guys have no clue how bad it is obviously...
Who even cares at this point; enjoy the game right? Ill see you guys in game... We'll RP in the Pub or chat while we wait for the Afk pvp matches to end. Because well... you just don't get it. But you will...

You talk like any of this gear is hard to get. So yeah, why pretend the game is ruined because people burned through the starter content? With or without exploits it's pretty trivial.
Oh "open beta" in regards to F2P games is just marketing talk. The game has officially launched, the labels mean nothing. Anyone with experience with F2P games knows this and anyoen with experience in mmos isn't pretending it's the end of the world because easily obtained gear is being easily obtained.
So again, why pretend the game is ruined when it absolutely is not? Not trying to be mean here but you sound like such a newbie ranting and raving over starting content.

Unfortunately there is nothing much PWE can do at this point.
Reset the servers? What about all those Zen purchases? what about all those account unlock (via Zen) Are they going to be refunded? Doing a wipe usually mean lost of customer but not sure how many. I don't think NWN has like 8 million players that can afford a wipe (which may lose to anywhere from 1% to 99% who knows)
There are some changes to do that "could fix it"
Lower ALL stats for BoE epic T1 and T2, create new set of BoP class specific roll for T1 and T2 (I put that in so only specific class can actually roll on it) This will cause BoE items to eventually fade away.
There is nothing you can with already level 60. Some got there legit (it is possible) and some with exploits. Hard to say at this point who did what. So a wipe is not going to work other than HAMSTER players off.
One of the ideas for foundry posted by another player (which I don't remember the name) that monster HP should reset if they can't attack the player.

People keep bringing this up but yes you can be refunded your zen. F2P games have wiped servers before (MWO is one I believe) and all purchased in game currency was refunded in full to the user. They keep track of your initial purchases not what you spend the zen on so they can easily put the full amount of zen you bought with real life currency back. That being said I don't see a wipe being likely even though it is needed.

And what about people who never purchase but use AD to convert to Zen to unlock stuff on THEIR account? do you just take those away? do they have to code which character they can use?

Yes, they lose all of that. That's what a wipe does, those people will have to earn the AD, convert to Zen and buy the unlocks again.
Of course, this is all hypothetical. None of this will happen.

technically they WON'T lose that since it is bind to the account unless they are doing account wipe (which can get tricky) that is the problem with F2P when the account and characters are "bind"
There is character wipe (everyone goes to zero and AD reset) but then there is account wipe where all the option you bought for the account (extra character slots) will get wiped too, that is risky. I can see things go wrong on that level.

Account-wipe isn't that tricky, they did it at the end of the closed beta; no one got to keep their account unlocks there, either.

I'm a new player to this game, just for 2 or 3 days, I don't like to beta test stuff so probably won't be playing much until this game goes offcially live. I much rather start on a fresh server or see a server wipe before it starts though as from what I understand players in the beta have already used exploits to get lots of currency, so the economy is probably inflated already. When this game goes live I think everyone should be at an equal footing and people shouldn't be at a disadvantage to all these beta testers who are hoarding stuff from their exploits.
Do you have anything relevant to add the discussion other then being rude and obnoxious?
I think another reason for a new shard is so I don't have to be on the same one as this guy.
I wouldn't worry. With his inability to comprehend what an exploit is, he's not long for this world.

Hey guys lets talk about all of us getting 15k Zen for free because we are human beings and not computers!
