GWF companion at 34

I'm at level 34 and I'm starting to have trouble. The encounters are starting to do more damage them my cleric can handle. She basically useless. Would it help to switch and level up a tank companion to pull the add off of me so I can work on them from behind or will the talk be just as useless as the cleric? I want to try it but I dont want to spend the gold if its not going to help.

    You need a companion that can exceed rank 15. They start getting seriously useless at right around your level without having more ranks available. That being said, you can try slotting some enchantments and gear and that might help prolong their life a little.
